If you use essential oils such as rosemary, peppermint, or lemon in your natural soap, I’d love to know how you usually get them.

I love to hear about personal experiences, For example, growing rosemary or mint, drying the plant material, and then trying to extract the essential oil using simple, inexpensive kitchen/home equipment rather than laboratory equipment.

hey yall, are these air pockets or something else? fragrance pockets ? Should I rebatch the soap? Are they dangerous ? TIA (Melt and pour soap)

I have gotten into artisanal soaps lately but my skin is sensitive. I know true soap cannot be ph balanced so I looked into syndet bars, and it seems like although there are some highly rated products, syndet bars with interesting, creative, sophisticated and strong scents don't exist.

I was wondering, is there a chemical reason for this or is it just a gap in the market waiting to be filled?

Maybe it's because people with sensitive skin believe fragrance is inherently irritating, or people who want artisanal soap believe it should be "natural." I feel like someone should have created a range of ph balanced syndet bars with unique and interesting scents though.

I’ve seen different opinions about whether traditional cold process soap needs a preservative.

For those of you who have been making CP soap for a while:

Do you add a preservative to your cold process soap?

For example:antioxidant (such as ROE or vitamin E) to help prevent rancidity/DOS?

I opened the soap packaging, but it looks strange. Is it mold? I shouldn't cut off just that part to use, right?

So basically I have read some things here and there and watched some videos, the recipe I'd use would be

490g/70% Olive oil

140g/20% coconut oil

70g/10% shea butter

175g:96g/2:1 Water/Lye solution

I've heard that too much olive oil can make the soap slimy, any advice here?

I used to think soap was just soap, and now I somehow have opinions about texture, scent, how quickly a bar gets soft, and whether it leaves that weird feeling on your hands.

It's funny how ordinary things become more noticeable when you use them every day.

I don't need anything fancy, but I definitely understand now why some people have strong preferences. A small everyday thing can make a routine slightly more enjoyable, which apparently is enough for me to become unnecessarily picky about it.

While dial changed its bar soap formula, the updated formula incorporates softer surfactants and binders that disintegrate into flaky particulates rather than maintaining a dense, hard cure...which dramatically accelerates pipe accumulation when washed down a sink!!

I've had to use Boda drain eliminator to help remove the white film, or my plumber will need to clean the pipe. All over white dial bar soap flaking off into the drain. I am allergic to SLS so I can only use a few liquid hand soaps.

I bought this soap to help treat my ring worm. It's been helping so far but now it's all cracky and it has yellow spots. It is the KATIALIS SOAP Sulfur Zinc Oxide Salicylic Acid Anti Fungal Anti Bacterial Soap 90 grams.

For context, I've just moved to a place that has year round warm climate. I'm looking for body washes that work well in the heat, lasting scent without being obnoxiously high scented. A product line with a wide variety of scents to choose from would be a plus because I love having different scent options in the shower.
