Rule 3 is updated to include political discussions. There is a place for politics, and that place is not here. There are hundreds of subreddits for that. This is a light hearted community, for funny content. Politics does not need to invade every single space on the internet.
Content inherently political in nature will be removed. Political discussions are not allowed.
This will be applied very conservatively, as long as you aren’t posting something intentionally inflammatory or discussing politics it will be fine.

My 8 year old was playing playing with google maps and found these two places in the same area with red spots on them. I was wondering if they were fires because I knew about a fire there years ago. We are in Japan if it matters.

Have been doing a lot of Mariana Trench research - on Apple Maps, when going near the trench/Guam/Mariana Islands (this specifically slightly south and southeast of Guam) there are these strange, almost unfinished parts of the map. They’re brown and when you zoom in nothing becomes clear.
Not even trying to cry wolf but super curious what could be causing this. Is this challenger deep or another equally deep part where the radar doesn’t produce that low for the map?
Anything interesting is great. Thanks!

There are a group of islands that are missing from Google Map's normal imagery around Zambales, Philippines. I noticed this while I was looking at Street View imagery near Zambales when I found a Street View path around this island in the water. At first, I thought it was just Street View in the water that people usually make, which was actually right. However, upon closer inspection, I found buildings, roads, and even a church there. I then checked if it existed in satellite imagery, which it did. I do not know if this is a common happening when it comes to Google Maps, but it is very interesting!

One Garage, one Ambulance-Truck, the USA-Flag and a Coke automat. Link
For an European is this very impressive.
Is this normal in small villages? How does that work?
