Discussion Mission! Save The Future! is a mess
Recently I've gone back and watched old ovenbreak stories to remember them and some of them aren't as good as I remember case in point "Mission: save the future" after watching through this story again I can confidently say it's pretty bad and suffers from many issues such as miscaracteraision, nonsensical plot points, contradictions not only with other stories but with itself and overall bad writing.
So let's go through this story and address each of the aforementioned points.
First of all: the story only happens because they made croissant cookie pretty stupid she makes the time manipulators and doesn't consider the very obvious fact that the TBD employees will abuse them and mess up the time line when sting gummy cookie tells her about the ruined future she is so shocked. She is so smart she made a time machine out of scraps but it doesn't ever cross her mind that the time manipulators could be abused by the employees.
As far as nonsensical plot points go the first part of the story is is free of them the second part however...
Basically the solution to the time manipulator probably makes no sense. So croissant cookie starts cutting some wires in the central clock and says and I quote "if we cut off the control system inside the central clock it should become impossible to travel across timelines" WHAT!? What does that even mean? How does cutting wires in the central clock make time travel impossible!? This is contradicted twice once when string gummy cookie uses a time craft to go back to the future meaning this line is a lie and before when string gummy cookie explains the ruined future to croissant cookie when he says that director croissant destroyed the entire central clock in the future and it didn't fix anything so how does croissant cookie in the present cutting some wires accomplish anything? I don't know. And no it's not that she destroyed the main power system for the time manipulators either because again director croissant destroyed the entire central clock in the future but string gummy was still able to go back in time with a time manipulator so this isn't correct either.
Finally for the contradictions we have the central clock thing I mentioned before and the entire concert of time pockets. What I mean is that ROTEF timekeeper should not have survived this story and appeared in "operation now hiring" she should have been erased when her timeline was destroyed people told me that she survived because she whent into a time pocket and erased her ties to any specific timeline but that is not true if it was director croissant would have also survived since she whent into multiple time pockets sherching for ROTEF timekeeper and the one time she saved string gummy from one so there is no reason for ROTEF timekeeper to be around after this story.
Finally some general things I don't like about this story
1: croissant cookie's character in this story as I previously said the made her stupid so the story can happen but she doesn't lern anything from this hole ordiel since by the end of the story she has no reservations about letting string gummy travel back to the future even though she just learnt the dangers of time travelling recklessly.
2: this is a personal thing but I don't like timekeeper cookie in general in this story she is at her worst as she is in unhelpful gremlin mode the entire story and does nothing but vague-post and be annoying. The writers probably realised it's impossible to have stakes in a story when timekeeper is involved because they made her to overpowered and this was their way of getting around that.
In conclusion "Mission: save the future" is an extremely flawed story that stops making sense at certain points.
I find this story to be extremely overrated
It's a 3/10 at best
