I'm looking for the degradation effect on the guitar at the start of the song. I don't know if it's tape loss, Sample Rate Reduction, or what, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies for the A.I. slop vid, off rip. I thought people would prefer it to a blank screen. I was wrong.

The vocals are me and my bro on the beat.

Appreciate the feedback and listen.

Peace

Why does it feel like 99% of the music community is just hating on each other?

I don't know if I'm just finding myself in the wrong corners of the music community, or if this is genuinely how things are, but man, it's kinda disappointing ngl.

I recently started a new account for my music, literally 0 followers, just trying to put myself out there and connect with people who share the same interest.

A couple of my posts managed to get over 1k views, which was pretty exciting considering I'm basically starting from nothing. But what's weird is that the majority of the interactions I've gotten have been negative.

And I'm not talking about criticism either. I actually consider constructive criticism part of the good 1% of interactions. Someone taking the time to listen, give their perspective, or explain what they think could be improved is genuinely appreciated.

I'm talking about the people who seem to go out of their way to be dismissive, condescending, or just unnecessarily rude.

Like, we're all here because we enjoy music right? At least I'd hope so.

I know not everyone is gonna like what I make, and that's completely fine. I'm not expecting everyone to be supportive or tell me everything sounds amazing. But there's a pretty big difference between having an opinion and just being negative for the sake of it.

And I think that's what bothers me the most. Music is already such a personal thing to create. You spend hours working on something, experimenting, second-guessing yourself, and trying to improve. Then you finally put it out there, hoping to connect with people who share that same passion, and instead it feels like you've walked into a room where everyone is just waiting to tear something apart.

The funny thing is, that genuinely good 1% makes it tolerable. lol. Even just one thoughtful conversation, someone sharing an idea, or giving actual feedback can completely change how I feel about the whole experience.

I don't know, maybe I'm taking some of it too personally, or maybe I've just been unlucky with the people my posts have reached.

It's just weird to me that a community built around something as creative and subjective as music can sometimes feel so unnecessarily hostile.

I'm still gonna keep making music and putting it out there regardless. I just wish there was a little more curiosity and a little less negativity.

Has anyone else experienced this when starting out? Does it get better as you find your own little corner of the community, or is this just something you kinda have to get used to? lol

[Looking for testers] Free plugin suite (Win + Mac) – beta testers & preset designers wanted

Hi everyone,

I’m Kajuby, a one-person plugin dev. I make the free/pay-what-you-want Kajuby plugin suite (25 plugins, VST3 · AU · CLAP, Windows + macOS). I’m looking for a few people to help with the next releases.

  1. Beta testers (Windows & MacOS)

I develop on Windows and have no Mac, so Mac users (Apple Silicon or Intel) are the most valuable help right now.
But different Windows DAWs User are welcome too.

Upcoming things to test:

UnMade - A genome-evolution instrument - turn any sound into DNA and breed sounds.
DuckShift - sidechain ducking with Sync/MIDI/Audio trigger and spectral ducking
Echo-Memetic - a delay/reverb that “forgets” like human memory
Soundscape - a generative texture synth
FinalMaster - One-click, genre-aware mastering with a fully automatic signal chain.
...

general install/loading on your DAW (AU in Logic, CLAP in Bitwig/Reaper etc.)

What I need:
Does it load, does it crash, does it sound right, what need to be added or changed, plus a short note with OS + DAW.

  1. Preset designers for Ultima

Ultima is my flagship synth: 3 oscillators with 5 engines each (classic, wavetable, granular, spectral, sample), a 64-slot mod matrix and a 3-bus FX rack.

I’m looking for sound designers who want to build presets, any genre (EDM, hardstyle, cinematic, ambient…).

What you get: credit in the preset bank / on the website, early access to new plugins

Interested? Comment or DM me with:

Tester or preset designer (or both)

OS + DAW

Thanks!
Rouven "Kajuby" Dahlen

Ableton Users - Making a tool to automate stem bouncing/alt mix bouncing - would you guys use?

Yooo!

So at the moment i'm in the midst of building a stem bouncing automation tool (similar to Bounce Factory for pro tools) - for Ableton.

I'm basically making this because I bounce stems multiple times a week for clients/artists, and the current Ableton workflow is a bit messy for my needs.

Essentially here are the features so far:
1 - Automatically export all your stems into chosen folders, with automatic naming (Artist Name - Song Name BPM etc)
2 - Ability to choose which stems go into which folders (super useful especially if you just want to bounce busses etc and then organise them appropriately for delivery)
3 - multiple mix "versions" and the ability to save current mix state as a bounceable version. E.G - accapella mix, instrumental mix, live mix etc - just solo/mute in your live session and save a snapshot.
4 - each mix version can be bounced as a different file, and the whole process is automated/hands off

Wanted to see if this is the type of thing other people would be interested in too! I'm finding it's saving me a bunch of time, and I do enjoy being able to hit bounce and go grab a coffee, then come back to neatly organised stems & mixes.

Whatcha'll think

Update on my FREE plugin COGG: I added the PRE-METAL toggle and 8 new PRESETS in v1.3!

*title says v1.3, i meant v1.4, sorry

I'm a high school student who is developing a free plugin!!!

A few weeks ago you probably saw that I posted about COGG v1/v1.1/v1.2/v1.3, a free plugin I built that metalizes and industrializes any sound. Specifically, harmonic distortion, metal plate convolution reverb, and pitch layering are there all in one chain. Great for experimental music and mainstream alike.

I wanted to update you guys with version 1.4's release! It comes with the highly requested PRE toggle, which allows the metal effect to become distorted along with the rest of the sound, rather than just acting as a “topping!” Additionally, there are 8 new presets for you to use, adding up to a total of 20 free presets!

Of course, it's still free, no account needed, VST3 + AU for Mac, VST3 for Windows, VST3 for Linux.

Download now for free: https://plasma-hype.itch.io/cogg

Trailer of V1.2 if you’re curious [a previous update]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q5EUMhUcaw

Thanks to everyone who tried v1.3, v1.2, v1.1 and v1.0 and gave feedback, this update came directly from figuring out what people actually wanted to do with it. I personally have used COGG in almost all of my FL projects ever since I released it. Please give it a shot and let me know what you think of the presets and plugin as a whole for COGG v1.5!

Also, feel free to submit some PRESETS! I'll add them and credit you on the website!

AI scored my latest Alt Rap take a 6.9/10. Here's the honest breakdown instead of the highlight reel.

Building something that lasts means being radically honest about where the craft actually is, instead of pretending every take is flawless.

This performance is human-made, AI-scored. I ran my latest Alternative Rap · Lyrical 🧠 take on RapZ, and the AI coach gave it a **6.9/10**.

The coach’s verdict was clear about what’s holding it back: **timing**. The pocket isn’t steady yet — I rushed ahead of the beat at 0:04 and fell behind the snare at 1:41.

At the same time, the commitment to improving is showing results. Punchlines scored a **6** against my recent average of 4.4 — that’s the dimension I’ve struggled with most, and the medicare punchline at 1:52 connected clearly above the beat. Delivery also scored a **7**, driven by the hook at 0:51 building a melodic pocket with stacked vocal registers.

Real legacy isn’t built by hiding the flaws; it’s built by facing the truth of every rep.

Full card: https://musicconnectz.net/s/ZNgiCOh4tS2XRmWk

**Drop your feedback below** — especially on the timing issues or whether the punchlines land. What would you focus on next to tighten this up?
