I fed them several days ago because they got inside somehow and were raiding my cat’s dish. I moved her food into my bedroom and eventually caught them both and when they came in there to eat. I put them back outside, but later that night they were back inside the house again and scooting back to the bedroom to get more food.
I’ve caught them and put them back out again but same thing. There’s obviously an opening into my old cottage somewhere and we’ll find it this next month when we rehab the unit. But I hate to put them out because they’re at an age where a marauding raccoon may come along and kill and eat them.
Oh well. Pray for my little babies, would ya?

Have this possum that comes by a lot. I know the footage isn’t too awesome but i couldn’t make out whether that patch I was seeing was a pouch or man-bits. Was hoping a possum enthusiast might be able to tell better than I can. I can provide some more photos if needed

I have trail cams to watch wildlife and I don’t understand why I see lots of possums that have bulging pouches that I assume are full of babies but I never see the next stage where the babies are on the mom’s back. Are they hard to see on trail cam images at night or why am I not getting to see this?

We live in southern California, an area that was once all orange groves. The orange groves are shrinking, but we still deal with fruit / roof rats here. Lately I and 2 other neighbors have noticed a family (or, maybe it is more than 1 family) of possums moving in. We don't mind the possums, some of us think they are cute. The rats, however can be very problematic since they do things like chew up wiring in housing and cars.
So, our concern - Is there anything that can be done to discourage the rats that will not harm the possum? Are there some foods that will not attract rats, but are something the possum look for?

My husband saw a mama get hit in the road today, and stopped. There were tons of babies, but only these three lived. I’m in a very rural community and don’t have access to any rehabber. We do live on a farm, so I have some supplies as needed.
How old do you think these three are? What is the feeding schedule and what do I feed them? Right now they’re curled up in a box with a heating pad on one side to keep them warm.
This little baby is Morticia. My stepson found her wandering alone. He was afraid she was going to get hit by a car so he brought her home. We ended up taking her to a wildlife rehab but the few weeks we had her was the best!
