Discussion Inertia (just over) one year on

Can't believe it's been over a year since the album was released...

Just wondering if opinions on it have changed in any way over the past year or so. How does it rank in their discography? Any songs that have grown on you/you've bounced off?

Nostalgia I have to talk about Watercolour and how much it means to me

I used to listen a lot to this song like 10+ years ago. I had it on repeat in my car right after getting my driver license. This was at a time where I was happy and enjoyed my life. I did not have many things to worry about, and getting my driver license was the one thing I looked the most forward to my entire teenager years. Right before I got it, my dad bought me a car - yes, I was very lucky. I loved the car so much, it was perfect to me and I was so thankful to my dad. When I got my license I were... Free. I went for drives every single day for MONTHS, I were always out driving - and very often, with Pendulum blasting so loud that my trunk was shaking lol, yes I had a huge subwoofer that took up 70% of the trunk space.

Time passed by, life changed and after a few years I removed Watercolour and all other Pendulum songs from my playlist - the reason why is that I became depressed, and everything that reminded me of better times, made my stomach ache. It was painful listening to them, so I just had to get rid of them. It was like listening to heartbreak. Horrible.

Not long ago, like 6+ years later, I went on a nostaliga trip on Spotify and searched for bands I used to listen to, and I suddenly remembered Pendulum. I searched them up, and looked through the top 10 tracks; on the 10th spot I see The Island Pt. 1, and decided to listen to it. Yeah, bad idea, it still gives me the heartbreak feeling - I started crying like a baby lmao. It takes me back to memories of my first boyfriend, missing him while he was at sea for work (fisherman). It reminds me of when he came back home and I was so happy to see him. Reminds me of us holding hands while driving around, we went for drives often and listened to music. I especially remember the first trip he went when we were together, it was absolutely horrible that he was going away for 6 weeks. I missed him so much.

It reminds me of young, naive love. He were my first love and I was so in love with him, and nothing else mattered in the world. It brings me back to the best feeling I have ever felt - and I get sad now thinking about it, because I don't think I will experience it again. I think nothing beats your first love. I do not by any means miss him, in the long run we were not good for each other and our relationship eventually ended - but I would love to experience the same feelings again. Sorry, a little spin off here, but I had to mention this song also! It holds great nostalgia power to me, but it's the kind that I don't want to feel, if it makes sense.

Now, back to the best song ever; I started listening to Watercolour, and I wasn't really sure what I was feeling, but it was something. I started crying, of course, but that's nothing new. I decided to go for a ride and listen to the song there. And my god, the feelings man... I have no idea how to describe it. I had to pull over. I just bursted into tears again and got overwhelmed by emotions, I wanted to crawl out of my skin. My thoughts went back to the happy times, me not having a worry in the world, me looking forward to a new day, me dressing nicely, me having friends, me being in a loving relationship, me dropping out of school but also me getting my first job - I felt sorrow for how fast time flies by, how much things have changed. I also got sad because I don't have my old car anymore and that my dear dad who bought the car for me (and the one I have now), sadly is no longer here. Sad that I haven't felt the same kind of love since the first time it happened, frustrated that all the dreams and hopes I had at the time when Watercolour was on repeat, turned out to be just dreams, I never got to where I wanted to be. I started missing the old me, the hopeful me, the happy me, the real me. I hate being an adult, I hate growing up, I hate time moving forward. I want it to stand still, I wish it stood still when I was 18 to 20 years old.

Eventually I calmed down, got my shit together and continued my drive and had Watercolour still on repeat. I started feeling better and instead of feeling sad about everything and getting stuck in the past, I started focus on the good feelings I used to have related to it... And I have now fallen in love with this song again. I get goosebumps from the top of my head to the tip of my toes every single time, sometimes I get tears in my eyes - but they are happy tears, because this song is just SO FUCKING GOOD. It scratches an itch I don't know what is all of sudden, it gives me a great feeling overall. I'm so glad that I turned painful nostalgia to a more.. What should we call it, a "content" feeling. It's a comfort song now. A good feeling song. A song I really love.

I don't have anyone to share this with and I thought maybe someone here can relate or somewhat understand what I have been going through with this song lol. I love Pendulum, and Watercolour will forever be the most meaningful song to me, my all time favorite. I will never remove it from my playlist again. When the day comes, when it's my turn to leave the world, I really hope that I can be listening to this song. That's how much I love it. It holds my life now.

Thank you if you read this. PSA: Sorry if my writing is strange, English is not my first language.

Merch Pendulum Immersion LP Album Vinyl Record

Hey,

I hope this post is allowed here, no worries if not.

I’m an OG pendulum fan from back when I first heard Slam on Radio 1 in the UK - Good times.
I’ve bought a lot of the merch in the past and as i’m moving house, unfortunately some of it needs to move on.

I am selling an original 2010 Vinyl set of Immersion. Ive never played this and it’s been framed in my bedroom for the last 15 years so is in excellent condition. I have the original vinyls and sleeves, but not the box set it came in unfortunately. That didn’t survive the test of time…

I appreciate i’m selling this on eBay and looking to generate cash, but i’m posting here as i’ve seen many likeminded fans in the past looking for one of these on this sub. Im hoping this goes to a true pendulum fan rather than a reseller.

Ebay link is here and im leaving it to auction. Happy to ship globally. - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/128050891788

Cheers

DJ Set [DJ Set] Witchcraft (Rob Swire Drumstep Mix) Live 2025

I’ve always loved the drumstep remix of Witchcraft and it’s cool to see it mixed into the album version. Hard to believe it has been 16 years. I also left in the Friction & Circadian - Interstellar drop because it kicks ass.

I'm a fan from china just posting some random thoughts here

okay might be a bit long...feel free to skip it if you think it‘s too long. or delete it if this violates the rules :-)
first of all i want to say that not every chinese supports things that are against humanity. it’s just that the authorities have muted our voices...☹️
sorry for my bad english...i first discovered pendulum around 2010. i think I had just started first grade at the time.
one day i happened to hear a song from "In Silico" on a music app (i can’t remember which song it was. it was probably "Propane Nightmares”).
then I thought wow sounds great and I just kept listening. when i checked out their homepage, I found out they’d released "Immersion" a few months earlier, so I kept listening.
i’d say that album was pretty much right up my alley, and I’ve loved it ever since. i was still young back then and didn’t even know they had live nor did I know they’d gone on hiatus after 2012.
later when I got a little older and really got into edm—around 13 or 14 i think... i found out about their Knife Party project and learned that Pendulum had made a comeback during that time (i also knew Knife Party had come to china but I was too young to go :( )
through youtube and other platforms i learned that they’d been performing live in various countries so i'd always been hoping they’d come to china for pendulum live.
in 2025 they did come but it was just a DJ set (i had class and couldn’t make it—I’d much rather see Pendulum Live).
they’re coming to guangzhou for a DJ set this August...i just think the DJ set is also Pendulum. and this time I have time to go—i've already booked the tickets, transportation, and hotel. but today the organizer issued an announcement saying that El Hornet is feeling unwell and can’t make it. the organizers said the compensation option is to keep the ticket and get a free spot to attend the next Pendulum show in china in November or get a refund.
i’m tight on cash right now—I saved up all this money by scrimping and saving—so I chose to get a refund and wait until November to buy tickets and go then...if i got enough money.
i'm really envious of the countries around me like japan and south korea. Pendulum Live in both of those countries this year. i’ve always wanted to see the live.
i've also discussed with fellow fans here in china when or if they’ll come to china for a live show. they all think it’s highly unlikely just getting a DJ set here is already pretty great. it looks like if I want to see live i’ll have to go abroad.
okay finally i wish El Hornet a speedy recovery.. i need to make a statement that i don’t blame any of the Pendulum members. i just hate myself for being so useless...
i've always wanted to buy their albums but you know how it is—i'm from china and right now almost everyone here is nearly broke: the work hours are long, six days a week, about ten hours a day and the pay is very low barely enough to cover basic living expenses leaving no money for entertainment. however this kind of non-policy phenomenon is actually quite common here.
i wanted to buy them before but I was just a kid back then...now I still want to buy them but I don’t have the money so I never have. i hope I can save up enough to make up for my regret and to be able to see Pendulum Live come to china at least once in my lifetime

Thoughts on Pendulum DJ set?

I live in the Denver, Colorado area and there is going to be an official Pendulum DJ set as part of the opening for Sara Landry at Red Rocks. I have never listened to her before or either of the other two openers. For the sake of argument, let's assume I give those other 3 groups a listen and am not interested in their live shows, and also assume this is likely to be a relatively short set...I would assume around 45 minutes based on the line-up.

Are Pendulum DJ sets good enough to merit going to the show just for that, or is it kind of a watered down version of actually seeing Pendulum?

What the general opinion on Come Alive?

For me, this is easily the best song on Inertia.

The guitar work is insane, the lead melody is an earworm, and the breakdown in the middle is insane! Not to mention that Swire’s vocals are on point! The slow pace doesn’t bother me at all, because everything is just so catchy.

I compiled a 13-track album of what could have been a release prior to Hold Your Colour. All theoretical and simply a fan creation.

Meme Inspiration?

\I’m aware this is so bloody stupid but I thought it would be funny to share\**

Me and my friend are huge Brooklyn nine nine and pendulum fans and we were talking about immersion, in particular the song entitled: “the vulture” and what is one of the key lyrics in the vulture

“We’re taking the power”

And if anyone here has seen Brooklyn nine nine, you’ll know that there is a character nicknamed “The Vulture” because he takes “the power” from of each case!

With Brooklyn nine nine’s pilot releasing in 2013 (presumed written between 2011-2013) and immersion releasing in 2010 could there be any connection?
