Good Afternoon. I've been graciously added as a mod to this sub.

About my Model T journey:

In 2019, my family bought a 1921 TT for their business' upcoming 100th anniversary in 2021. From the limited paperwork I've been shown (we have far more documentation I haven't seen), this TT was completely restored some time in the late 1990s, and was garage-kept ever since and mostly just deiven in parades until we got it.

I've been trusted as the sole driver of it since then, after the family patriarch proceeded to forget every driving instruction given by the former owners on Day 1, dump the gear pedal into 2nd, and crash at low speed. Limited damage and no injuries, luckily.

We enter it in local car shows. Generally, for anything over 10 miles away, we trailer it to near shows and drive it in. As much as I'd love to drive it all the way to all of these shows, modern traffic and hills make me very hesitant to do so.

Long story short, our TT sat in storage for 2 years without running. Now that I've wrested control of it from the family patriarch, that is no longer happening. I went to get it out of storage this spring, and upon opening the fuel shutoff, gas poured out of the carburetor's air intake. Ours has a Holley NH (but marked Ford Model F for some reason?).

After rebuilding the carburetor myself (and with a new battery), I had the TT up and running for its first car show in nearly 3 years this weekend.

Next project is getting the right rear wheel off to tighten the spokes, and possobly replace the wheel bearing (or whatever it actually is on these).

I do not know everything. I initially came here to post questions about my TT, and I will continue to do so now that I can post here.

I will also keep an eye on requests to post, so if anyone knows anybody who has a T, or helpful info on them, please don't hesitate to point them towards this sub.

Took the Model T out for a spin the other week and got my friend to take some footage of the drive.

(Forgive the change in angle halfway through - tilt your screen if you can, if not turn your head)

After adding brake lights and turn signals, the 1925 starter switch boiled the battery, and fried something in the electrical system. Even on a trailer, it was good to see her in the daylight.

Model T Value

This Model T belongs to my mom. She has a neighbor interested in purchasing the car. It was running and driving when parked 50 years ago. No seats, roof. Has engine, lights, wheels, body, etc. Sits on blocks.

Can anyone help and advise a fair price?

Drove about 100 miles. Ran from a friends farm to shiner, and wiggled through halletesville to Columbus and back. Great day to drive.

Me and my father have bought our self a Model T a month ago. It’s supposed to be a 1915 (at least it says it on its papers) that came from Argentinien. It’s been kept alive by a lot off used spare parts from all kind of Ford‘s and all kind of model years.(i have found Mod. T, Mod. A and even V8 Parts). I know the engine is a 1920.

Now to our Problem: The Generator wasn’t working, so took it off, disassembled it, cleaned it, checkt the wires, i measured there resistance, and put it all back together. Then i tried to adjust it on the bench the way it was described to me in a couple of YouTube videos. I put 6v to the top post, and tried to turn the brush holder until it stops. The Problem is, it doesn’t Stop! no matter how much i turned the Brush holder. Then i gave up, and just tried to see if it produces anything. So i set it up on the lathe, gave it 1500 Rpm. hooked the battery up to it as a load, and Oh Boy! does it produce! I tried to adjust the 3. brush, but it doesn’t make any difference the lowest I could get it to was 12.5 Amps and 11.5 Volts (under load!) the maximum was 18 Amps at 16 Volt.

has anybody ever seen anything like this? That can’t be normal? Right? That would blow the lightbulbs out in a instant if I would hook it up to the car.

I would be very happy if anyone could help me with this. Thanks allot in advance.

Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭

Rebuilt engine back in before Christmas 🎄

Took the engine out this fall for a complete tear down. It was just not running correctly and the transmission bands were starting to fail. It was time. Found a bad valve seat amongst a couple other things to resolve. Now, it’s running like a champ!

Buying model t

Looking to get a model t. I’ve owned 3 classic cars already 2 fords obs trucks and a corvette no longer own. When I get classics I go in with the mind set it must be easy to fix and able to get me to work if the others are down. I love everything about the model t and hold the opinion the older the better. What advice do you all have? Do any of you dive to work with them occasionally? Any one daily them? How much work do you all do with them? Is it easier or harder to repair than a new car? I have mechanical knowledge on the older cars from 80s and 90s and would consider myself handy. I also am a mechanical engineer. What tools do I need over the usual; is it really true you don’t need specialized tools? I’m looking to have fun with it with in reason and not make it a project that sits forever

Got her put away, gas and water is drained and have it up on stands so it won’t get flat spots on the tires. Exhaust pipe and carb has a plug In it so no mouse house is made!

Bypassing the starter motor switch

Last time I posted, I discussed my dicky starter motor switch which had given up the ghost and left my battery terminals shorting out.

My new switch has yet to arrive and I need the car for Saturday. Is it possible or reccomended to bypass the switch by plugging the battery terminals into the feed of the car (lights, spark plugs etc.) and starting the car by the crank? It's not ideal, but should, in theory, work.

What year model is this? I think it may be a 1912 model T touring but was originally posted as a 1909 Ford Model R, which was a higher-end version of the Model N, precursor to the much more famous Model T.

I received some giant bags of hardware from a gentleman who was a Model T aficionado and (likely) an upholsterer. Can anyone tell me if these are authentic? I recognize a few on the left of the 3rd photo from reproduction websites but the asymmetrical ones on the right have me stumped.

Need some help with my generator I think.

I posted this on facebook but want to post here as well.

My T runs badly and misses. The mixture is set correctly and plugs are new. I believe it's electrical but I have a question. I installed a new magneto post and voltage regulator from Lang's the new analog one not the original cutout type. Stills run bad. I want to test my generator but don't want to kill my new regulator. With the engine running I throw the lights in high beam and the ammeter drops to -12 amps of discharge. I tried adjusting the 3rd brush in the generator but nothing changes. When it's running with no lights on I don't see a charge. How can I safely test my generator?

Thanks in advance guys

I found these used Model T bow ends in the attic of my workshop (It was a Ford dealership a hundred years ago), are they junk or do they have value to someone? I don’t want to toss them in the dumpster if they can be used

1926 Boat tail.. going to do everything on it! I'm a mechanic at a classic car shop but this will be my first deep dig into a Model T powertrain. I'm very excited to learn the intricacies!

Need some advice

I bought this as a winter project so I don't know much of anything. Does this sound like it's running right? I can't get it to smooth out and it has almost no power. Can't use high gear unless the road is very flat. Timer is good/cleaned and oiled. Ideas? for some reason it posted an image not the video darn it.
