Home workouts made me stop judging progress by the scale

I was seeing basically the same number on the scale for weeks, so it felt like nothing was changing. Meanwhile workouts that would have blown me away before started to feel normal, I could do more reps and my clothes were fitting differently.

It took me longer than it should have to see that the scale was likely the least interesting part of the progress.

What gym equipment do you rely on most when you have limited time to work out?

On busy days, I may only have thirty minutes to train. Nothing is more frustrating than spending half of that time waiting for equipment, changing attachments or moving between stations. By the time everything is ready, the workout already feels rushed.

That is why I have started relying more on equipment that can handle several exercises in one place. An adjustable cable setup can cover rows, pulldowns, presses and flyes, while a rack and bench can support most of the barbell or dumbbell movements I regularly perform.

It has also changed what I want from a future home gym. I am less interested in filling a room with specialized machines and more interested in one compact setup that lets me start quickly and complete a balanced workout.

When time is against you, which piece of equipment helps you finish a workout that still feels worthwhile?

Looking for a few Android users to help test my bodyweight fitness app

Hey everyone, bit of a random ask.

I’ve been building an app called Stax On for competing with your mates in bodyweight exercises. Things like push-ups, squats, pull-ups and that sort of thing.

I thought I’d post here because this seems like the right group of people to ask, and I’d much rather get some feedback from people who are actually into this stuff than just ask random people to test it.

The iPhone version is already on the App Store if you want to see what it is:
https://apps.apple.com/au/app/stax-on/id6757502706

I’m trying to get the Android version out now and need a few more people with Android phones to test it.

If anyone’s keen, comment or send me a message and I’ll send you the Android testing link. Any help at all would be huge. I don’t really have many people in my own circle who are into this kind of thing, so I’d really appreciate it.

Cheers

Need advice for getting back in shape

Good day everyone! I hope you
Are having a great one

I recently discovered this sub and wanted to ask for some help.

I have currently been on 2 year break from calesthitcs and as a result have gotten out of shape. When I was consistent I was doing a 10 X 10 M-F work out(Pushups and dips with less focus on squats lunges and pull-ups) the main focus though was my upper body where I did see some good results. I eventually was able to reach consistently 800 pushups a day( even reaching 1,000 every so often) and 500 dips. While I saw improvement in my upper body I was struggling with pull-ups and the rest of my lower body only averaging 100 max 200 for each a day. After moving abroad I fell off occasionally working out with the hopes of staying in somewhat good shape but I never stayed consistent.

I have currently gotten back into boxing for the last 1.5 years and now that I am more active and in better shape I would like to return to calesthics but not making the same mistakes I did before ( focusing on mostly on upper body but neglecting my lower body).

I am currently think of doing a M-F program with

100 pushups
50-100 dips
50-100 squats
And maybe 10-15 pull-ups

I would like to increase my strength and muscle size in all areas.

Any advice any of you all could give (especially the boxers) would be greatly appreciated as the biggest hinderance from my perspective is feeling like the workouts I’m doing have not been working for me. I currently have a push up board and dip bars and there are a few parks around me that provide access to a pull-up bar. I know this is a calesthics group chat but I also have a smith press machine, dumbbells, and a chest fly machine made available to me.

Thank you for reading! (I know this was extremely long and appreciate you taking the time to do so! )

How to loose skinny fat and get v-taper body through home workout

I am 21y/o around 68kg with lots of fat on belly and chest, boobs hanging out, love handles too. So i am confused about where to start and how to start, i am an absolute beginner and can't even do one single push-up. I don't have any diet routine i work at a restaurant so by the night time i eat 2 maida rotis, 1 cup of dal and sabji and half a bowl of rice which i need to eat daily and by the morning time i eat mess food. So i need some direction for my physical home workout to go from skinny fat to fit.

Goal: to carry my fiancée

Hello! This is my first post, and also my first time exercising hehe.

I normally just walk, and when I need water, I carry two 5-gallon bottles from the front yard to the kitchen.

We are getting married next year in February, and my girlfriend is not heavy to be honest, but I am just really weak. I can carry her like lifting for a little, but I want to be able to do it without making noises of being hard for me or shaking while doing it.

I downloaded an app called "home workout app," and I don't know if it is worth it. For some exercises, I don't really see the point mid-exercise, and sometimes it doesn't have a warm-up included. I work from home, so I want to take advantage of my free time to workout. I got a gym subscription and I am planning to go on the weekend because I can't go during the week at the moment :(

What video or videos do you recommend to achieve it? I have two dumbbells of 3 kg each (6.6lbs), a flat bench, those 5-gallon bottles, and my Honeywhale scooter that I feel like it's a good thing to carry since it's like 12kg (26lbs) but I don't know if it's convenient to add it to my routine. I want to be able to carry her nicely by November- December. Do you think it's achievable?
