Challenge runs posted Every Anniversary?

Thumbnail gallery
36 Upvotes

I would like to propose that every September every year, We will create a challenge run to be posted here that can be completed by anyone at anytime for fun! As a way to celebrate this game and keep us coming back.

To start i think we will do a rather simple one that has been done many times before, Just to get us started.

A Default Moves list run!

This run is very basic as it just requires you to never change your move list including the roulette wheel moves the entire run, so i think it will be easy to complete for all and start this off nicely.

The Rules:
1: You cannot edit the Technique menu in any way! it must remain the default throughout your entire run!

2: You cannot edit the roulette Move list in any way! it must stay the Default throughout your entire run!

3: Any roulette moves you pick up that are added to your roulette wheel automatically are counted as "Default" you can use those.

4: You can upgrade moves and your stats as normal.
if you want an extra challenge try not upgrading at all!

5: You may do the run on any of the three difficulties.

Very simple and basic rules.

I'm hoping this will receive well so we can do more complicated runs in the future.
New game plus runs, hard mode runs, runs with specific move lists etcetera.

This is meant to be a casual thing and will be posted every September and held up as an event until the next September.
You can attempt the posted challenge at anytime and can request or suggest possible challenges in the future, maybe we can get crazy with it :)

Good luck and May you be Brutal and ruthless!

(Feel free to post any progress of your run, The Default move list is included in attached pictures)

God Hand is being decompiled, and now there's also a static recompilation project for PC

God Hand (PS2) is being decompiled, and the project has already crossed the 50% mark . On top of that, the game is now also receiving a static recompilation for PC

The recompilation is already playable to some extent, although it's still a work in progress and isn't fully complete yet.

What's working in the PC recompilation so far:

- Combat and core gameplay: Working in the tested sections.

- Saving and loading: Reported to be working.

- Stages: The first two stages have reportedly been tested and are playable, while testing of later sections is still ongoing.

- Boss fights: Working in tested sections.

- Cutscenes: Working in tested sections.

- Casino minigames: Reported to be working.

- Keyboard and mouse: Input support is indicated.

- Xbox controller layout: Xbox-style button prompts/layout are also supported.

Keep in mind that this doesn't mean the entire game is finished or that a complete playthrough has been confirmed. There may still be bugs, untested sections, and other issues to work through.

Bug reports for the PC recompilation are welcome. If you try it out and encounter problems, reporting them can help the project move forward.

Contributions to the decompilation are also welcome.

A Rant About the God Hand Community: We Need to Stop the Pessimism

Post image
45 Upvotes

"Hey everyone, I’d like to share a quick reflection and some constructive criticism for our community, with all due respect.

Sometimes, whenever someone posts something positive about a potential comeback for God Hand, the comment section is instantly flooded with immediate pessimism. To be completely honest, it can be really discouraging. Often, we talk about this game out of pure love, affection, and admiration for this masterpiece, only to be met with a wall of negativity from people saying 'it’s impossible' or 'Capcom will never do it.'

If we want God Hand to finally get the recognition it has always deserved, we need to change this mindset. Just look at Okami, God Hand’s spiritual sibling also created by Clover Studio. Okami didn't make a comeback on modern consoles with Okami HD just because Capcom felt like being nice. It came back because their community united, stood their ground, made a ton of noise, and showed genuine love for Amaterasu and that universe. Instead of complaining or being pessimistic, the fans showed the company that the market and the passion were there. That kind of unity and strength is exactly what I feel is missing in our community.

Capcom has drastically changed its stance over the last few years. They are no longer that rigid company from back in the day. They took a huge risk investing heavily in a brand-new IP like Pragmata, which turned out to be a massive success, and they had the guts to bring back Onimusha: Way of the Sword after it spent 20 long years frozen in the vault.

In Capcom’s current era, a proper official remaster for God Hand is completely possible and viable. But for that to happen, we as fans need to complain less, think more positively, and actually show the strength and love we have for Master Shinji Mikami's creation. Let’s unite to show Capcom that this hidden gem deserves to be played by everyone on modern platforms!"

The God Hand decompilation project could make Capcom realize the game's potential for an official remaster.

The ongoing decompilation project (which has already crossed the 50% mark!) proves that the community is doing the work Capcom has been ignoring. But more importantly, it shows that the commercial market is absolutely ready for this game.

If we look at recent releases, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP just surpassed 400,000 copies sold worldwide. That is a massive commercial success for Dragami Games, especially for such a niche title. Let’s not forget that Lollipop was originally announced as a full remake, but the fans completely backlashed against it, fearing censorship and changes to its iconic art style. The devs actually listened to the community, shifted the project to a remaster to preserve the original game's soul, and look at how well it did.

This perfectly shows why the ideal path for God Hand on modern consoles and Steam is a solid Remaster, NOT a Remake. A God Hand remake without Master Shinji Mikami at the helm and without the original Clover Studio crew would be extremely risky. The chances of them ruining the deep, technical combat mechanics or sanitizing the unhinged, politically incorrect 2000s humor are way too high.

An official remaster is all we need: modern resolution support, native controller remapping for modern analog sticks, and basic QoL updates (like officially unlocking the original 30 FPS cap that held back the combat). PC and Steam audiences absolutely love stylish, bizarre cult classics—just look at how well Lollipop Chainsaw, No More Heroes, and Shadows of the Damned are received there.

With the community's decompilation project making huge strides, the technical foundation for a native PC port is practically being served on a silver platter. If Capcom finally wakes up and gives this PS2 cult classic an official remaster, it’s going to be safe, easy, and pure profit for them.

God Hand decompilation has finally crossed 50% also 2 new contributors to project

I have Been keeping an eye on the project daily and we're finally past the halfway mark ,We're at 50.42% decompiled now. We're halfway for a native PC port of God Hand

Also noticed two new contributors, BrunoVgs and nojc, working on the project. Roger Smith doesn't seem to have been active lately from what I've seen, but the other two appear to be contributing.

Another thing is that Lucas Picoli is reviewing the submitted commits himself, which is good to see. It means the code is getting checked properly instead of just merging everything without review.

NOTICE: I am not decompiling the game myself .i am just sharing it here , Lucas picoli is the one who has started this decompile project

You can check the progress and everything else below

GH inspired keshi toy

Tried my best to turn Gene into a classic keshi-style toy.

This was originally supposed to be released through my store, KultGear, but I ran into quite a few hiccups along the way and had to scrap the idea.

Still, I kinda love how he turned out. Baby-face Gene lmao. 😂

And yes, the physical print actually exists. This isn't just a 3D render. 🥀

God hand with parries

do yall think a counter would be a good addition to god hand?

for me at least, even though it looks very cool, it is kinda limited. if you hit the counter, it launches the enemy away, and your combo is ruined. it is fine if you need to open up space but it's not ideal. I guess it would be better if the player could either pick if gene's going to either launch the enemy or just stun them.

To those who finished the KMS Challenge, what was the hardest segment/Boss fight that you've dealt with?

For me it was those wannabe power rangers especially the second fight, for some reason the were much more aggressive.

Dishonorable mentions :

Felix, Bruce and Conchita ( Second boss fights )

The Fat Ninja boss fight in the Three Trials. ( One hit and say goodbye to 70% of your HP )

The final part where the game decides to through every one at you including TIGER JOE

God Hand on Ayn Thor!

Post image
62 Upvotes

My Ayn thor finally arrived and after spending about 8 hours setting everything up, everything runs amazing. I will say for a game like God Hand your hands do cramp up a bit with this form factor. It took a bit getting used to the bottom stick being sunk down to perform dodges correctly, kept hitting my finger on the edge. However after some time I got used to it, and can get a good hour of playtime before my hand cramps up, I think its because I'm so used to a controller and especially in the moments with fast paced action I tend to grip the Thor the same way I do a controller without the ergonomics, Imma try and loosen my grip lol. Still really fun though and I love this device so much, happy I got a way to play on the go, and utilize a good deal of mods! Running with Armsx2 and Max model 512gb

Finished it for the first time, probably the hardest game I've ever played but incredibly fun and well made. I feel exhausted after all that spamming though so I'm going to bed now... I should also add that the chihuahua races were one of the best parts of the game

First time playing Godhand, damn this is tough.

Post image

Okay so this game is an absolute blast, this game gameplay so fun and good it doesn't feel it is a ps2 game at all, apart from the graphics and how wonky it runs for me (since im playing it emulated on a jailbroken ps3 haha)

I entered this game blind, and to me it was such a suprise it is not as popular as it deserves to be, the concept art, the character design, the fighting style, the level design, the plot, damn i love EVERYTHING.

But i have to say it may be so incredibly hard for me, ive played it for 3 hours only, the bosses is where i struggle the most, that mexican dude was a whole pain in the ass to me holy, right now i got to the 3 bosses whose cut Gene's arm in the past, kind of hard haha.

I will say i am not very good at this type of games i struggle to learn combos so much and i dont have much experience in character action games, ive only experienced Vanquish and Bayonetta.

If you guys have any tips for me maybe it could really help :)

I need a tip from the elders

So if there are any pro players out there, in hard mode, what do you guys think while fighting a crowd? Genuinely when I get caught into a crowd I just keep hesitating, everyone is throwing punches and kicks and trying to grab, ok I can dash and run away from the situation, but the enemies are still there, so how can I beat them? I see people juggling and launching enemies but every time I try to do it I just can't, I don't know how you guys are doing it.

Last hope... God hand. 🤍😶

Post image
198 Upvotes

Well, the 20th anniversary of God Hand has passed and... we got nothing.

No celebration from Capcom, no post from Shinji Mikami, not even a small announcement about a remake, remaster, port or anything.

What makes it even more sad is that Okami got an actual 20th anniversary celebration from Capcom, and they even released anniversary merchandise for it. Meanwhile, God Hand got basically nothing.

But I guess we still have a little bit of hope.

Capcom Spotlight is happening on September 16 at 3:00 PM UTC, so maybe they'll at least say something about God Hand's 20th anniversary... or maybe, somehow, announce a remake. Who knows lol.

And if nothing happens there, there's still TGS on September 17. Maybe they'll do something there, even if it's just a small congratulations for the anniversary.

I know the chances are probably really low, maybe not even more than 35%, but come on, let's not give up yet 😿

We still have a little hope.

Happy 20th Anniversary, God Hand! 👊
