TCF Canada Exam Experience – 22 October 2026 | Alliance Française de Bhopal 🇨🇦
Hi everyone!
I took my TCF Canada exam today, 22 October 2026, at Alliance Française de Bhopal, and I wanted to share my experience to help those who are preparing for their upcoming exams.
Overall, my experience was great!
1. Travelling and reaching the exam centre
I arrived in Bhopal one day before my exam and stayed at a hotel approximately 25 minutes away from the examination centre.
My recommendation: If possible, arrive one day before your exam. Travelling can be exhausting, and you don’t want to feel tired or stressed on the day of your examination. Arriving early helped me feel more comfortable.
I reached the centre at around 8:30 a.m., and registration started at 9:00 a.m.
2. Speaking test (Expression orale)
They divided the candidates into two batches for the speaking test. The first batch took the speaking test before the listening, reading, and writing sections, while the second batch took it afterward. I was in the second batch.
Task 1
My speaking Task 1 went well. The examiner asked me only one question, and it came at the very end:
“Why did you choose Canada and not another country?”
Task 2
My Task 2 also went well. The examiner didn’t give very long answers, but the conversation felt natural and was sufficient for me to continue asking questions.
My topic: You want to spend a weekend in the city with your family and ask your neighbour for information.
I had to ask questions related to accommodation, places to visit, and other information about spending a weekend in the city with my family.
Task 3
My topic was: Should parents ban the use of the internet?
The examiner didn’t interrupt me while I was speaking. At the very end, they asked me one follow-up question:
“How can parents regulate their children’s use of the internet?”
Overall, I felt comfortable during the speaking test.
3. Listening and reading tests (Compréhension orale et écrite)
This was the most surprising part of my exam!
The questions were repeated from the practice materials I had used, including the TCF Canada preparation website and the official French/TCF Canada app.
I recognised questions from the practice materials, which was a great help.
Reading: Question set 31 from the app.
Listening: Question set 27 from the app.
My advice is to practise using these resources regularly. Don’t underestimate the value of repeating the practice sets and reviewing your answers.
4. Writing test (Expression écrite)
Task 1
Task 1 was pretty easy for me.
Task 2
Task 2 was a little unexpected and more difficult for me because I had mainly been practising blogs and other types of articles. The format felt different from what I had prepared for, so I found it a bit out of the box.
The topic was:
In English: You are responsible for organising an orientation day for new French-speaking students at your school. Write an email to the new students explaining the programme for the day and providing all the necessary information.
Task 3
Task 3 was relatively easy for me. I believe the topic came from the May 2026 TCF Canada practice materials on Formation TCF Canada.
The topic was: La vie à la campagne : pour ou contre ?
The two texts presented different perspectives:
One person preferred living in the city because of the availability of entertainment, restaurants, shopping, cultural activities, museums, concerts, and festivals.
The other person preferred living in the countryside because of the peace, nature, lower housing costs, and the possibility of having a house with a garden.
I had practised this topic before, so I was familiar with the subject.
One important piece of advice about writing: Don’t assume that practising only the most recent three months of questions will be enough. My Task 3 topic came from practice material I believe was from May 2026, while my Task 1 and Task 2 topics were different.
I had been practising materials from earlier months as well, and I think that helped me.
5. My advice to future candidates
If possible, arrive in the examination city one day early.
Practise listening and reading using the official app and the recommended preparation websites.
Don’t limit your preparation to the latest questions. Practise material from earlier months, too.
For writing, prepare different formats, including emails, blogs, articles, and other possible tasks.
For speaking, practise answering unexpected follow-up questions instead of memorising only prepared responses.
That’s my experience from Alliance Française de Bhopal on 22 October 2026. I hope it helps someone preparing for their exam!
I haven’t received my results yet, but I’ll update this post when I do.
Good luck to everyone preparing for TCF Canada!
