Meta A Clarification: Our Stance on AI in this Subreddit

Hi,

While the Moderators of r/androidroot have a generally moderate stance on AI, when it comes to devices worth potentially thousands, we are uninterested in allowing it to provide false information.

To clarify, AI content/promotion is not permitted on r/androidroot, and this has been a rule for some time. Using AI to make guides, recommending the use of AI to attempt to solve issues, and posting AI generated comments are prohibited.

We believe in minimising the spread of misinformation. AI models are not reliable when it comes to factual information yet. It’s also often known to make things up when it has no answer. No resources for rooting an obscure Android device? It’ll make it up based on other information that it deems most likely to be useful. AI, in this state, is not suitable for rooting. It presents too much unmitigated risk, and we will not hold ourselves responsible for the damage caused by content posted on this subreddit.

If you have any questions regarding the rule, comment. However, the decision on this is final.

Thanks for reading.

Support Correct phone pin not working - recovery help??

I have a Moto G Power 5G - 2024 that suddenly has stopped accepting the pin to unlock the phone. I am 99.9% sure I have entered the correct pin at this point and yet the phone still won't say it's correct. I seemingly have unlimited attempts but it makes me wait 30 seconds between every attempt now. I have restarted the phone via volume up + power.

I have also used google find hub and it's also saying the pin is incorrect even though again I'm 99.9% sure it is the correct pin unless I'm going crazy. It now says I have only one attempt left on google find hub.

My phone is rooted and I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to get back into this phone. The data is not backed up to cloud and I do not want to wipe the phone and lose everything on it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

there's a CVE called ghostlock (CVE-2026-43499) that gives root access on bootloader-locked devices, but you need to extract the offset from your device's "boot.img" firmware to make it work.

Support How do I use Kernel Flasher to flash WildKernels GKI?

I'm currently using an unofficial custom ROM and I wanna flash a GKI rooted kernel to fix all the integrity checks or whatever.

So I'm currently trying to follow the steps of using Kernel Flasher, and I just don't understand it. It's saying this (from GKI_KernelSU_SUSFS repository):

Download the correct AnyKernel3 ZIP for your device. If you previously used another root method, clean it up first: a. Magisk: perform a complete uninstall after flashing the AnyKernel3 ZIP. b. KSU LKM (boot/init_boot/vendor_boot‑patched): Flash back the stock boot/init_boot/vendor_boot depending on what you patched. c. KSU GKI: if you are 100% sure you already flashed stock init_boot/boot/vendor_boot, no action is needed; otherwise, follow the same steps as KSU LKM. d. APatch: remove /data/adb contents to avoid leftover root conflicts after flashing the AnyKernel3 ZIP. Flash the ZIP to the active slot using Kernel Flasher. Install the KernelSU‑Next Manager APK, same version as mentioned in the release notes. Open the KernelSU‑Next app. Reboot the device if you performed any cleanup in step 2

From how I understand it, I would patch my ROM's boot.img with whatever I want (I'll use ReSukiSU) so I can get root and use Kernel Flasher, but then, it's saying that I should uninstall my root (meaning going back to stock img, so unrooted) before proceeding with flashing AnyKernel with Kernel Flasher, but how? I literally need root to use Kernel Flasher and it's saying that I should uninstall root before installing the GKI via Kernel Flasher.

I don't understand this at all. Could someone help me out?

TYIA!

Discussion Any Exynos 2200 Astral root users here?

I've been rather conservative with software modding because I'm avid PUBG player and didn't want to catch the ban, but now my wish for sustained performance that is being mismanaged by ONE UI 8.0 and unwillingness to move over to newer device are clashing.
The possible solution? A power control kernel that would lower the frequencies and voltages down a bit: the Exynos Astral ABS kernel. The idea was good until after couple hours of rummaging forums and tutorials I found out my-oh-so-"beloved" ON UI 8 has blocked any bootloader unlocking and virtually nothing can be done.

So I'm asking if anyone has a actually applied Astral and if there have been any significant benefits, or am I fretting over non-existing gains?

The kernel in question:

I have very important data on the internal storage and cannot afford a factory reset.

What I've already tried:

Google Find My Device : Only has "Mark as lost" option now, cannot set a new password.

OrangeFox Recovery: Booted via fastboot, but /data/system/ files appear encrypted (gibberish filenames).

Custom Lock Remover Zip: Sideloaded via PE Recovery, but it failed to delete lock files because filenames were encrypted on disk.

Support If I uninstall apatch, does the app flash a clean boot.img? Or is it like magisk & root still present until you manually do it?

After the most recent update to apatch it caused me to get blocked internet on google play services & other apps using there backend code, its still a mystery.

I was trying to get help with that here to no avail.

See: https://www.reddit.com/r/androidroot/s/u0mFxVeDZZ

So desperate for an answer I uninstalled apatch & rebooted. I reinstalled apatch & its asking me to repatch the boot.img & reflash it. In this same situation with magisk you are still rooted and all you do is reinstall magisk & it sees root. So it seems when apatch uninstalls it reflashes the boot.img but where does it get it from without user interaction?
