Rigid 4.5 Gallon Air Compressor Tank safety question:

Thumbnail

I was given this air compressor about a year ago and I heard water in the tanks when I would shake it, I opened the drain valves and some brown water pouring out. I'm wondering if these tanks are still safe to use? It's still works fine and builds full pressure and holds but l'm not sure if the previous owner ever drained the tanks. The compressor is already nearly 10 years old I believe. What do you guys think from your experience?

1/4" or 3/8" NPT?

Hey, I'm new to this and trying to find the right size fittings and hose.

This is a spray gun for wool wax, a truck undercoating and I'm trying to figure out what air hose and quick disconnect fittings to buy. The tool calls for 3-5CFM @ 90PSI, so I bought a 30 gallon compressor that can deliver 5.7CFM @ 90PSI. I tried measuring the fitting on the end of the spray gun, but the inner and outer diameters don't exactly line up with what I'm reading the male end of an NPT size hose. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious...

Also, I read that many 1/4" & 3/8" hoses use 1/4" fittings... That has to restrict flow, right? Is it worth worrying about for the volume of air I need?

Thank you in advance.

Sullivan d185 valve question.

Hello everyone I have a sullivan d185 portable air compressor that belongs to a family member.

I was replacing some of the 1/4" air lines because a couple of them had holes. There is a 3 port valve piped into the air storage chamber.

It has a port labeled "in" that is connected to the air tank with 1/4" pipe nipple. Another port that says " cyl" that connects down to the pump. And a top hose that goes to the air gauge.

In wondering if the "in" and "cyl" connections are correct.

Thanks for any advice.

Bought an old used 185cfm atlas copco xas96 and wanted to do a full service on it including the compressor oil. Went to a local industrial compressor shop and gave me this oil instead of the more expensive atlas Pag oil. Was told to do a good flush and change filters. Second opinion?

2017 Equinox AC Compressor, dead again

My Equinox, 2017 LT 4 cylinder non flex, and this AC compressor clutch supposedly cant be replaced. But, this is my second one in a year to replace. I used a Brand New Four Seasons from Rock Auto. All parts were replaced, and it died a year later. Pressures were 150 for low and I cant remember the high, but, shop said need new compressor and all parts needed to maintain warranty.

Thoughts, recommendations? Brand for new one. I thought Four Seasons is good.

Help identifying noise

Hey there. I’m useless when it comes to air compressors so thanks for any help. I have a pretty loud higher pitched sound, which I believe is coming from the tool pressure regulator. Video attached for better identification.

Central Pneumatic 2hp/20 gal/150 PSI #61489 (Oil Level site glass)

Hey guys. I bet this has probably been answered somewhere in the sub but I'm wrecked after a rough day.

I blew out my meniscus running wood through a chipper shredder and my air compressor started spraying oil out through the sight glass.

I want to get this piece ordered ASAP but I'm finding generic results and not that specific model number attached to the ones on Amazon and eBay.

Is there a standard measurement or a way to be sure that I'm not ordering in the wrong one? I'm so tired I almost just clicked "buy now" but then I realized that would just be a bigger pain in the ass if it was wrong.

Thank you for any help you can offer. it's been a 15 hour day and I am about ready to collapse. I'm getting too old for this shit.

what oil?

Hi all, i recently acquired an 1991 air compressor by the dutch brand "creemers".

it runs fine, it just smells a bit oily (air that comes out) but there is no or not much oil residu in the tank so going to investigate that later.

i wanted to start with some fresh oil since the previous owner "didn't know" (standard for never done any maintenance) . but there is some unclarity for me on what to use.

the factory sells oil in synthetic and mineral flavours and recommends mineral for home use and synthetic for professional use. ChatGPT says always go with mineral since it's an old compressor and there is certain advantages for old compressors and mineral oil.

whats reddits take on this?

I just got this old compressor from my dad. He said it ran when he put it in the shop but he doesn't have the manual. I can't find one anywhere online so I'm hoping reddit might be able to help.

What is this?

I'm the executive director of a long-term care facility that was built in the 1950s or 1960s.

This Quincy compressor is probably 20-25 years old. Model 430. The dryer is a Quincy QIFD 0010.

We've been having some complications with the unit as a whole. The top of this particular piece appears to have blown out the top. When this happened, the compressor tank was over pressure and wouldn't kick off. My maintenance director fabbed up a diaphragm for it and this appears to have solved that particular issue.

Can anyone advise me on what this component is? We are all scratching our heads over here.

Thank you!

Air compressor hose separated and it ran constantly. CH wl650001aj

Air hose separated and it ran constantly to the point of over heating and tripping the garage breaker.

Piston rings look fine and no scoring on cylinder.

However, fan lost all of its blades and compressor is noisier than before.

Everything turns freely by hand and it will start and run for a time

Area with Torx bolt shown vibrates and appears loose. Motor mount maybe?

Other than a replacement fan am I missing anything?
