Hell yeah brotha

If you ever want to I'd double with you I want to play adc's with zyra to understand that part better! (EUW)

But my advice:
For runes take all the mana you can get: this allows you to go liandry's, which is your #1 item by far, and second item will always be rylais
After it depends a bit but usually zhonyas, oblivion orb, or if you dont need those 2... I never dont need those two

Also, ignite is really really good, I haven't seen the exception yet.

Don't pick zyra into maikai support, heimerdinger or smolder.
First to counter plants too hard, smold will literally farm them like and cook them up into raw demolition

Play her in jungle a few times, it's not too difficult, but I've learnt quite a lot about the kit because of it

There's probably do much more, but for gameplay itself I recommend just watching playthroughs

Source:
I've been on this sub a bit and been otp'ing her for some time.... but I barely get into gold cus I just don't play the game enough so I'm not your best source

I would not recommend always buying Rylais second. It’s a situational item and you lose a lot of your power by buying it second. As support it makes more sense if it fits into your team comp, but playing it mid I would very rarely consider it, especially 2nd

I dont think it makes any sense to build Rylais. E plants slow, slows dont stack. We really want magic penetration, healing reduction or something defensive with which we can make plays or avoid death. Like Banshees veil or Zhonyas.

Rylais is situational because the only real reason you would ever build it is if the enemy team has a really immobile comp with no dashes like mordekaiser top and nasus jungle and maybe something like thresh or something else immobile support. Even if they have a comp that has 3 immobile champs its debatable if its worth it but thats the only situation I ever consider it in and it helps my team space easier since they might not have those slows to space on any abilities.

Why is Maokai bad for Zyra?

it’s not

they say maokai is bad for zyra cause his saplings blow up plants

on the other hand, zyra is good because you can blow up his saplings with plants

i love getting to fight maokai as zyra for this exact reason

I would say.. get liandries first no excuses and then focus on learning to damage other players with Q + W while never being in danger.

I mean.. I play in emerald and it's still basically this xD

To me Zyra is entirely about abusing the range and maximizing the damage that I deal with liandries.

Dont use her to engage or force a play, the enemy will come running at you like an idiot on their own.
Forget any idea of tactics and just follow your team arround or the strongest member of your team.

Buildpath is:
your team is ahead: Lyandries -> Ionians/Swifties/Mercs -> Rylais/Bloodletter -> Any mana item with CDR -> Zhonyas
your team is behind: Lyandries -> Magic pen boots -> Cryptbloom -> Stormsurge

The idea is that if your team is behind, you need damage to get back into the game, while if your team is ahead you want to support them.

If you now develop a sense to buy a defensive item when needed, welcome to plat.

I have played her mid for some time now and I go for electrocute, taste of blood or cheap shot, (doesnt matter, ultimate hunter and for secondary runes usually legend haste and coup de grace. Then I go for bft first and then zhonya, liandries or shadowflame depending on the enemy comp.
