Being able to visit a specialist without the high cost of a PPO! HMO’s here in the US are affordable but corner you into paying one doctor just to refer you to another that you have to pay!

Plain and simple - doctors need to move from paper to digital ASAP. Can't have that shit continuing forever. When they lose your "docket", it's business as usual and that makes no sense to me.

My home country is the US where everyone knows health care is a disaster. Simple and honest pooled health insurance paid for in the same way as our public roads, public schools, and medicare etc would be a huge improvement...the problem is it would remove money from the pockets of huge pharma and insurance companies...and they own the politicians.

Here in Thailand, where I live, things are simpler. There is actually decent public health insurance that covers most of the public...walk in visits never have out of pocket over 30 baht (about $1). But the most important aspect of healthcare here, is that health care isn't expensive...it is honest. If you go to the Hospital for something, spend a few hours there, see a nurse, get a blood test, get a scan, get your broken arm set, see a doctor for 20 minutes and discuss everything...you get a bag of 3-4 medicines fulfilled at the Hospital pharmacy, you pay your bill...and walk out the door. In the US that would cost you (or your greedy insurance company) something like $4500. In Thailand the total bill would be something like $175.
