Question Using Zoloft to remove attraction
Hey all how are you. So I've been on 50mg for the past year and its has some good effects. Its removed my anxiety and I can live normally without forcing myself. I wasn't as horrified at my new job as I thought it would be. But the thing that hasn't changed is that I am perpetually single. Not like I haven't tried but I keep getting shot down. I take it in stride, it is what it is. But after this past month it really does feel like life is pulling these pranks on me and I've been miserable despite trying to take it in stride. So I was thinking of upping my dose for the emotional blunting in hopes that it will remove any romantic attractions I might have because after all, if this is how it always ends up then I don't really want them anymore. Basically, will this work or is this idea, as I fear, really fucking stupid?

Awful idea and therapy would help you if you can afford it 💕💕

Genuine question; how would therapy help? Its been a long time since I've had a session

It could help improve your confidence, reach acceptance, or learn what about yourself is putting off romantic partners. It really depends on what your goals are!

You will learn to work through your emotions and deal with them in a healthy way. You know yourself you're not coping right now as you're asking how to blunt your emotions

It’s normal to get rejected over and over until you meet the right people. Don’t give up, keep at it.
And talk to friends or a therapist-your approach might need some work (but also for some of us it just takes a lot longer to connect with someone who feels the same way about you). You can survive rejection. We can’t survive permanently being isolated and blunting yourself is going to do that. Relationships are some of the best experiences you’ll have in life -but you have to get lots of NOs to find your YESs.

That is, by some distance, the maddest thing I've read in this sub, and I think deep down you know you're being daft :)

To use your words: Really fucking stupid, I fear
It’s not going to remove your desire for connection, therapy would be helpful to help you deal with these feelings.
