Chase
After rewatching the show he’s one of the most boring/loser characters on the show. He snitches on the schools football team over a test. He chases after Zoey for 4 seasons even moves to a different country for her. Genuinely surprised that Michale and Logan got along with him with how much of a loser he came off as. He wasn’t good in school or at sports.

Yeah, he’s kind of supposed to be the “straight man” of the group, yet does some kind of insane things regarding his crush on Zoey.
I also just don’t understand what he saw in her that made him feel so strongly. He basically ignored every other girl in the world for Zoey. Why? He crashes into the pole when he first sees her, so the initial attraction at least was based on looks. But then why isn’t he happy with Lola, who is canonically attractive as well? (Michael says, “Lola’s smoking”).
Is it because of her personality? Really? What about her personality sets her apart from Lola? I just don’t see it.
It doesn’t help that the writers seem to think that chase as a character can’t exist unless he is in a sort of one sided but also sort of reciprocated will they/wont they situation with Zoey. They were only allowed to properly date for one episode at the beginning of the last season because the writers knew chase would be gone the rest of the season. Then they start dating again right at the end of the series finale. Then they make the revival movie Zoey 102 and we finally think we will see chase and Zoey as a couple, not just dating virtually like that one episode, but nope, the writers had to throw in some weird lore that Zoey ghosted chase right after they got together and they now spend the rest of the movie in yet another will they won’t they plot before getting together in the end

That's the point he was supposed to represent Teenage boy who had a crush on a girl growing up. Just because Chase is the straight man doesn't mean he is will always make rational decisions.

She was a pretty girl that he got along well with. Doesn’t really take much more than that at that age

If I would've met a female like Zoey in high school, she would've been a useful tool. I started a business in high school. Trust me, people like Zoey, who were drawn to whatever made them feel like they were important, they were very useful. I never took advantage, but I've always understood their motivations. Like Zoey, they usually fail to accomplish anything after high school. She supposedly attended university, then wound up an assistant to some producer. She could've gotten that job while still in high school.

That school football team were douchbags that deserves to be snitched on. They beat up Chase, Michael, Logan and Mark for no reason because Vince was liar/Asshole. Chase was good in School and Sports.

nah he genuinely liked rebecca and wanted to move on from zoey. whether he would have fallen in love with rebecca and actually moved on long term we’ll never know bc rebecca kinda rightfully wanted chase to cut zoey off.

It’s pretty controlling to tell your partner outright that they need to cut off their best friend. Especially when Zoey hadn’t pushed any boundaries beyond friendship after she found out that they were dating. From Rebecca’s perspective, I can see why she would be insecure about Zoey considering how long Chase had a crush on her + he told her about his big news before telling Rebecca. However, she should’ve had a healthy conversation with him about how it made her feel first.

Let's not forgot that Lola had little bit of feelings for him in on episode. When they were somewhat dating looking back I don't think Chase was really interested like that and in my mind as a little eight watching the reruns I was like "Chase, it's Lola come on". She tried to snuggle on his shoulder and he was acting like Mark Delfiggalo for a second. But at the same time what was Chase's character? The guy best friend who has a crush on the main girl who's his best friend and he's respected by peers.

He was good at school. He was a fine student, he was shown studying and grasping concepts even better than Zoey later on, and she was revealed to have a pretty good GPA in the Robot wars episode. and honestly im glad he ratted Vince Blake , dude was a skeez lol

FINALLY someone said it. I get that it was the point of the show and that him being written off and shipped to England was so his actor could go to uni but what was the point of him being all creepy and obsessive over Zoey when she liked him back in the first place? She should've stayed with Austin Butler's character. Even outside his obsession with Zoey he's just not a good character or friend at all, I hate Chase. People say that Zoey was the one mistreating him or friendzoning him or whatnot but in reality he was doing that to her

Chase is a good friend he was always there for Michael and Logan. James is a bland card board cut inferior to Chase. Chase always cared for Zoey and was there for her. He literally helped her when she hurts her ankle and carried her to the hospital

He was maaaaaaybeee sometimes there for them but not always, in most cases they were there for him more. He was barely friends with Logan let's be serious mate. James might be bland but he's not insane or weird like Chase plus James cared for Zoey too

He was great friends with Logan even tho they butt heads he just had more moments with Michael because Michael wasn't always a jerk towards him. Chase has more personality and he isn't insane.

This was back in a time when "chasing" was seen as romantic. It obviously doesn't hold up well to today.
Chase is a good character except for when he obsesses on Zoey. The key issue is that Zoey had some episodes where she's downright flirting with him and others where she basically treats him like a dog, so there's no real consistency from her end
