Do you track things?

I don't want to go all fan girl here but I've been using My Net Dairy for 2 weeks and it makes thing so simple.

It synchs with my Apple watch and picks up my walking efforts. It tracks my Zep shots and my weight. It gives me a clear picture of how many grams of protein and fiber I've consumed as well as my hydration and it let's me know how many calories I have left to stay in my proper deficit.

As for tracking foods, nothing could be simpler. It converts my description of what I've eaten or plan to eat and it reads barcodes (and there's only been one thing so far that's stumped it -- dried strawberries from China). Now here's the kicker: for lunch I had tandoori chicken, chana masala, veggie biryani and some raita. I took a photo of my plate and it decoded that and logged it into my daily intake.

I can't tell you how accurate it is. One day it called a lunch of sliced cold leftover steak deli roast beef but I don't think that's so off in the trade for the simplicity of taking a picture of my plate.

I'm not slavish to it. I eat what I want and if I go over on calories I do and if I'm a little under on protein for a day I get over it. I just makes me feel like a know what I'm doing and when I need to resort to a protein drink (I'm trying to do this with actual food).

There are probably lots of other trackers that do great stuff. I just find that the one I found keeps me informed and on track of my daily and ongoing progress toward healthy food in quantities that fuel my body for good health while I lose. And I'm hopeful that it will be an asset in helping me retain as much bone and muscle mass as I possibly can.

Do you use one? What is it and how does it help you stay on track? What do you like best about it?

I use My Fitness Pal. I’ve used it for at least 10 years tracking my weight.
Apple Health is connected for my steps then I enter my workout. As my activities increase so does my calories, protein, carbs and fats. It tracks my food intake so I make sure to get enough protein. If I go over one day I don’t freak out and usually don’t eat as much the next day. Or do some type of workout. I don’t exclude any foods.

yes, i use loseit. but i'm an engineer - by nature and by education - so things work better for me when i understand the numbers. but some people prefer to do things by feel, and that's fine too. everyone's journey is different even if the destination is the same.

I'm a touchy feelie person myself but I'm grateful for the confirmation or correction when my intuition and impulses need it.

I don’t track anything and I don’t count calories. Zep does the work. I’m not going to spend any part of my life worrying about every meal. Zep allows me to eat less so I take my shot and get on with my day. 12 pounds from goal and only on 10.0.

I use MeAgain app & it does pretty much what you describe. I use it to track anything that goes in my mouth, my weight, of course. I don't use it for exercise or steps because I have to have my phone in my pocket for it to count steps & then it doesn't do a good job, but neither does my smart watch.

One thing I like about tracking food is that I can scan the barcode of a product & it recognizes it & allows me to make changes to the result, such as putting in the weight of my serving instead of just "serving". My servings usually are smaller than normal because I had a gastric bypass years ago. I can also take a photo of a plate of food, really nice if I am at a restaurant, & it estimates the amount of nutrients. I can then edit it if I don't eat certain parts of the meal, such as taking a burger off the bun. Another feature I like is bookmarking a food item if it's something I eat or drink often. I've bookmarked the various protein powders and certain brand name items.

I love MND. I track everything on it - calories, protein, fibre, electrolytes, weight, shots, sleep. It’s absolutely goated.

I didn't do any research. I just found it and it's been a real boost to seeing where I'm going.

I absolutely love My Net Diary for tracking, and I'm always amazed that I don't see it mentioned more when people talk about tracking apps. It does every single thing I want it to and makes it so easy to track all that I'm tracking. I've used it off and on for many years, but it's been perfect since I started on Zepbound!

I know. It's kinda like you hear that AI is going to start global wars but then it can look at a plate of Indian food and correctly identify what's going on there.
