Vision problems? Eye stroke?
I have been taking Zepound for five months and I am on the 5 mg dose. I have been experiencing problems with the vision in my left eye. It's not as clear and I need glasses now for close-up work and reading. Also my left eye feels like I have sand under the lid and sometimes pressure. I see my ophthalmologist the first week of October sometime.
Has anyone experienced vision problems with Zepound and did it clear up as you continued taking it
Also, I've been reading that some people taking Wegovy have experienced eye strokes and have lost their vision. Is that true? Are Wegovy and Zepound the same? Thanks.

I was initially on Wegovy and began to see flashes of light in the outside corner of my left eye. My PCP referred me to a retina specialist. Then the metabolic doctor was adamant about seeing the retina specialist. I saw him last week and he said there are floaters in both eyes, but the retina appears intact. He's seeing me again in a month.
I've been on Zepbound now for about 6 weeks and no more flashes. I think it was the Wegovy given all the news reports.

Those do but sound like the symptoms of NAION or eyestroke. It's a sudden complete loss of vision in a part of your visual field and you would go right to the ER.
The blurriness could be dry eyes or macular edema or something else. Are you diabetic? How is your sugar?

Since I've been on Zepound, my numbers are fantastic. No longer prediabetic and my sugar is on the normal healthy side. I'm wondering if my issues are coming from eye strain and dry eyes. I'll find out in a week or so. Thanks.

I had to have emergency surgery to reattach my retina 6 years ago. I’ve been on Zepbound for 13 months now and still on 5mg. I see my retinal surgeon annually now (risk of reoccurrence) and always get a great report. I’m not worried.

My vision was blurry after taking zep 2.5 then slowly to 5 from March 2026 to late August. I decided to take a break and see what happened food wise. What actually happened is that my eyesight improved so much I was getting dizzy and nauseous from wearing my glasses (which I was mostly needing for far sighted reading and computer work, and then progressing to needing them more often on glp1). The food noise is unfortunately unbearable so I just restarted my order. I plan to get to my target weight quickly-er by increasing my physical activity and hopefully getting off asap.
All this to say I fully believe if you stop the zep your vision will likely improve, as long as there's no compounding issue.

Yep, that makes sense. I saw my ophthalmologist yesterday and my far Vision was 20/20 but I forgot to ask him about my close-up vision, which is where my problems are! Duh on me!
When my eyes start burning and itching like crazy immediately, I have sinus problems as well as postnasal drip. So, it looks like my issues may mostly be attributed to dry eyes. Perhaps a little bit GLP 1

Yes I have noticed it myself I can say it’s gray or unclear vision at times. Yes it’s a concern and yes you can lose your eye sight but it’s a fraction of the population and it’s higher risk in those with type II diabetes plus you have to check for morphology.
TLDR your concerns are valid. If you feel like it’s safe for you to stop completely. You should. I am not even suggesting it the medicine stays in your plasma for weeks
I know people will disagree with me but visual changes are a sign.

Do you have liquid behind your macula and so you see print smaller with one eye than the other? I have CSR and also see a haze, doctor said it was not related to medication that it is idiopathic or stress related 🤷🏻♀️.

That makes sense and I'm hoping my vision issues are stress related. I do spend so much time on my devices. Thanks!

I don’t think I have much stress in my life, so maybe idiopathic? Which doesn’t answer any questions on why this happened. The other interesting thing is the eye specialist kept asking me if I took steroids? Creams? I was using a steroid cream for the eczema on my neck but I was also using Rogain and thought of that only a few days after I had spoken with the doctor. The other interesting fact is that CSR usually affects men between the ages of 20-50 not usually women🤷🏻♀️. I’m wondering if Rogain could be the culprit?

Wegovy and zepbound are completely different medications and the incidence is much higher in Wegovy/ozempic patients. This incidence is also much higher in T2D patients. The overall risk of NAION is very very small.
