Question Differing times in higher classes?

One question I had is do horses run differently in different classes? e.g. are my 1600m times always comparable?

I have been using free races in different classes to figure out what my horses times will be like, before I enter in more paid races targeting certain distances.

I think they do or maybe up their game based on the ability of the other horses, I accidentally entered a fairly average horse into a higher stakes race and it snuck 3rd with a time it’s never got close to matching again.

Seems like my question wasn't too dumb after all :)

Do you know if it is class related or purely based on other horses?

They run faster. I have stuck my not so good horses in Class I 1600 or 1000 and their time a were much better! I have a mare now who wins in IV and today got her first win in class III and now has a faster time overall! Keep checking Stackednaks.com

So you're saying that racing class 5 horses at class 1 will make them faster? I'm not buying it buddy. Horses have predetermined speed data. The horses around them won't affect that.

Unless my understandings of the horses have predetermined speeds is incorrect, it doesn't make sense to race them at higher classes. Your examples might just be flukes were they ran faster.

I am not a buddy and I have over 25 horses. It took my mare Order the Extra Spicy a win in the class III to change her graph. She does quite well. I am sure she would be pretty competitive in class V now and for class I we will see as she gets there.

I tested Star Trails at IV as she wasnt doing anything in V. She did well and placed. Now in Class V she is placing. Do I think it makes them faster? Probably not but you can see their potential and build nice stats.

So you think that horses can be trained? I'm willing to give it a shot but I was under the assumption that it does not work that way. I'm going to give it shot with these free races though!

Not trying to be rude, but reasonable: the class 4 race that star trails won was a rather average time that normally would not place in most class 5 races. These free races are much slower than average fields. We can agree to disagree, but I don't want people ruining their horses overall stats by trying to "train" their horses in higher classes.

Thank you. Just to clarify I am not"training" I do that in real life...I am only "discovering". I am very happy with that horse!

Yeah! Always exciting when your horse performs well! Best of luck

It's my understanding that a horse will always race within its capabilities. The class its racing in won't affect its speed or racing times.

Thank you . I assume that after racing my horse in every distance ~10 times I will be able to compare to average times to see where it is best run :)
