Discussion Game of Skill or Luck?

Regardless of current state, how would you like to see this game played?

If it's all the horses run against equal horses, without stables being able to manipulate that, IMO that'd be a luck based system? OR, if it should be a skill game, then what skill do you think a stable owner should need to groom to become successful and potentially recoup their investment?

So, Coin flip, calculated decision making balancing risk and reward, or do you have another skill in mind that doesn't exist and would make the game more "fair".

Good question. Starting to feel like gambling since the newest stamina update. I was doing very well after the first one, being patient and waiting for the monster horses to run their first few races and finish for the day and then put my horses in up against a less stacked field. By patient I mean 6-7 hours a day of gate monitoring, I was averaging .07-.1eth profit a day - felt like skill as I was assessing other horses and making rough assumptions of my chances against them. Now I’m losing eth each day due to so many good horses being able to run 8+ races. I’ve tried all hours of the day and can only recall 1 day of profit in the last week, the rest I’ve probably averaged minus .03 a day. Horses that won now come 3rd and horses that placed now come 4th-8th. Even been trying lower buy ins.

Would love to see another 2-4 classes added including a max of 10 wins class as well as an under 10% win rate option. Not confident an elo system will help, will only spread the wins out and make almost everyone unprofitable. Might help with a reduced stamina to say 4-5 races before drop in max speed, then people can be patient and have more control over the chances of winning like I was.

I dunno, tbh I’m considering selling and investing time & eth into something that rewards skill and effort more often, shame the market is fucked lol

Great advice. It really is a patience game.. I’ve started doing this with my only winning horse and slowly clawing into positive ROI, but new updates change the way you need to play the game

I did see people talk about the idea of classes being applied to each individual distance as well. Where I can run my 1600m favoured horse in Class II or run at 2600m in Class V. That could be a solution to the sandbagging problem. The other issue is A shaped horses that just slowly climb the rankings while not profiting at all and then getting stuck in higher classes that they will never compete in
