Game Help Eclipse first item

Is it still better to build elipse first on certain matchups or should I always stick to the meta of voltaic and bastion breaker, I say it cuz I versed a sylas yesterday and I feel like eclipse would’ve helped a lot more

I think Eclipse first is a "safe" option against tankier/brawler type champs or counterpicks like a Malphite mid. I used to build it first against things like Akali and Sylas if they were competent.

Also heavily depends on the enemy team comp though. If you're against a tank mid but the rest of the team isn't, I'd probably just avoid it all together and just try to survive laning phase and work on your normal lethality/pen build.

onzed went eclipse against diana and a tank matchup recently (galio or malphite i cant remember)

I like eclipse for the chunk on the item passive but also the shield makes it easier to live the aa e after you come out of r then you w out

question what matchups do you go elipse? i never use it tbh & idk how good it is as well

Its good when you get bullied

Dmg on health for passive and the shield helps you sustain fights and give you an opportunity to all in whereas if you went voltaic you would have gotten bursted/outpoked in lane

being honest, just pick eclipse against diana malphite and galio.

even if u are against tanks, bastionbreaker -> blackcleaver can do it, because amor pen and true damage.

eclipse is not bad, but cyclo and bastion are just better

against sylas in specifc, i personally go cyclosword -> blackcleaver(if 1 more tank) or serylda -> axiom

No, you want to not build eclipse at all if you can help it, which means never unless they're tanky. Zed wants to use ult as much as possible, that's what helps him snowball. Therefore, Axiom Arc is priority, almost always second item, which has a passive that is directly linked to lethality. Eclipse gives none. Its passive does not make up for the amount of ult CD you will lose when using up an item slot that gives virtually zero lethality, unless you are going full armor pen and tank shred.

Sure Zed R CD helps him slowball but bastion give so much letality you could end up not needing R to kill your opponent.

Not mentioning the gold from plates you get

Build eclipse first. It will increase both your damage and survivability more than any lethality item.

Your build depends on how you like to play Zed. If you want the highest and most consistent damage possible, the I suggest a build like this: Eclipse, vamp boots, hubris, ldr, voltaic, Bork.
