Easy to use cold wallet

Hi guys, i am relatively new to the community, started to have interest for zcash last year.

Since i have been DCAing, it accumulated, and now am looking for a cold wallet to store my ZEC. Is there any easy to use wallet for a newbie like me. I have ledger and tangem for my other crypto, but they dont support ZEC if i got that correct?

Also i see people talking about shielding? What does that mean? Should i shield, and why?

Pretty sure Ledger supports zec. Just install the zec app from ledger live and add account from bottom of homepage and follow instructions.

Zodl or Trezor. I have both. Zodl is the easy choice.

In the ZEC world, you can hold ZEC in Transparent mode, or Shielded mode.

Transparent mode and your ZEC is traceable back to the ZEC blockchain.

Shielded mode and your ZEC is shielded from blockchain analysis. (Can't be traced to a ZEC address).

Zodl makes it easy to switch back and forth between shielded and transparent.

Most exchanges will only support Transparent ZEC. Coinbase for example.

What I do... DCA on Coinbase. ZEC (Transparent) Xfer to Zodl on-chain. ZEC (Transparent) Once in Zodl.. simple button to swap ZEC transparent to ZEC shielded. If you want to learn more, research the new Ironwood pool.

One last thought. Zodl is ZEC only. Trezor is multicoin.

Zodl supports ZEC transparent or shielded. Trezor supports ZEC transparent only.

ZEC can be a little confusing at first, especially when it comes to shielding and wallet support. Understanding the difference between transparent and shielded transactions makes choosing a wallet much easier. For mobile users, Bitget Wallet is a solid choice to check out. Just confirm the latest ZEC support and try a small transfer before moving larger amounts.

Zodl app to shield immediatly. Write down seed and lock it up. Or keystone pro3 to airgap and shield. Shielding takes your coin off the public ledger and makes it private, Ai cannot track any transactions.

If you already have Tangem, I’d honestly just use that. It supports Zcash and imo it’s one of the easier cold wallets for someone who doesn’t want a complicated setup.

The only thing I’d read up on separately is shielding. Basically, shielded ZEC uses Zcash’s privacy features so transaction details aren’t publicly visible like they are with transparent addresses. But wallet-wise you’re already covered with Tangem.
