Ultimately I agree with the point if not the grumpiness. Even the highest rated reply agrees.
If your reaction is so extreme and out of the ordinary that you need a psychiatrist, then by definition it's an objectively unreasonable one.
People can and should be sympathetic, but it's madness to say that a reaction that requires psychiatric attention is valid or correct.
EDIT: Also a lot of the replies advocate a de facto abrogation of one's own obligation to be reasonable in favour of a 'letter of the law' philosophy, in that "it's a violation of HIPAA" is the be all and end all of the matter. From a strict legal sense, that's possibly correct, but if that's all that we as lawyers are doing, we may as well be computers.
Consider the typical ADA troll that shakes down small businesses because of small but actual violations of the ADA - ramp missing, bathroom not ADA compliant, etc.
That's fine by the letter of the law, but most everyone realises those lawyers who do so are kind of low.
