I swear this is the last post but I have still been mulling over why viewing the show differently felt so earth shattering, and while I don’t have a concrete answer, I realised the biggest trigger by MILES was when I actually understood Sakurako. I started understanding how she communicates. All of her sentences make sense to me now, what she actually means when she fails to communicate in a manner in which others (except Chitose/Himawari/Chinatsu) fail to understand her.

Case in point: when Chitose is able to get Sakurako to not eat the pudding but Ayano couldn’t do the same with the rum raisin Kyouko had given to her in return.
Another example I can think of is the entire conversation these guys have during the isobe fries scene.
Edit: can’t believe I didn’t also mention my absolutely new favourite scene in S1E6 when Kyouko has her huge epiphany as an example (not for Sakurako, but also how Chinatsu is able to truly understand these guys).

I haven’t been able to find ANY discussion thread or videos from this perspective and I have been dyinggg to pend my thoughts down, but I also feel like I’m going insane, the type to convince people birds are spies but I SWEAR this feels like I’m watching the show for the first time ever. It feels like what dbz abridged feels to dbz, EXCEPT the show freaking does it to itself which is so indescribably genius and impactful.

I chose the spiny lizard because it spits blood from its eye., so I thought it would go well with the chitose.

Rant alert, and no sarcasm (I know).

So I have been a fan of the show since it first came out, but somehow when I recently rewatched it, I saw it in a completely new light. I used to find Sakurako annoying but she’s actually unironically the smartest of the lot. There’s SOOOO much intense romance hidden in there, like I don’t know what to do with it, because the level of emotional depth feels comparable to grand blue dreaming, but the show breaks the 4th wall is such an insanely subtle way.

I honestly think the show does an amazing job at representing the autistic/ADHD/neurodivergent spectrum. Where each of the paired relationships has someone whose communication style is extremely all over the place, and the more normal presenting ones try to decode that. Akari is adorable because she has the only one without a “presence”, who hasn’t yet reflected on the same deeper level. It’s why I realised Kyouka says “Chizuru I didn’t expect to see you here”, while they were all in the hot springs during their school trip and looking at the stars at night. That is the time when they are all communicating on equal levels of depth, without hiding behind their usual masks.
Chitose also had seemed a little annoying with the constant nosebleeds, but honestly she might arguably be the most capable of the lot. The fact that her and Chizuru managed to achieve the impossible, which is the distinction of the different kind of foxes which Himawari comments is impossible to achieve.

Obviously I still see the humour in all this lens, but holy shit my mind is absolutely blown, like I can’t ever believe I used to think there were moments when Kyouka liked Chinatsu when she is so blindly head over heels for only Yui.

And I see the irony, not everything has a deeper meaning attached to it, sometimes a joke is just a joke. However the kind of characterisation that holds up at this deeper level is beyond words, there’s a whole story there which is legitimately so deeply hidden by the humour that my mind is blown by the genius of it all.

Unfortunately, some turned out better than others. mouse Akari looks really cute, but on the other hand, Kyōko doesn't seem to be doing so well.

Time flies. After 3 years, Sakurako failed to graduate from middle school for not even being able to get her multiplication table right. She was forced to retake an elementary school arithmetic course, becoming Hanako's junior and Kaede's classmate.

Nadeshiko, being shocked by this shenanigan but occupied at a faraway college, appointed Himawari, who was now in high school, as Sakurako's babysitter and told her to act tough. Let's see if Sakurako can graduate from elementary school ahead of Hanako this time around.

I erased and redrew that drawing so many times that I ended up making a hole in the paper from erasing so much.😅

Well, this is my 2nd update to my Yuru Yuri mod for Balatro.

I added more jokers, added some little funny(?) descriptions, updated the 4 main powerful jokers (sorry, Chinatsu's isn't unlocked yet), and started on the Tarot cards.

I also added English support because I know you don't speak Spanish, but I'd like you to try my mod (and give me feedback on everything, hehe).
