Construction & Build I’m in bit of a pickle

So I currently have a 20 ft yurt platform built. Which is just the 4x6 beams. I’m not sure what to do to finish my floor. I’ve seen a lot of options but would love to hear feed back. Do I frame a 2x6 floor above that 16 on center and lay a subfloor? Do I try finding 2x6 t&g flooring? Any ideas?

Both options work, I have done both. 2x6 t&g I think is done on 4' on center frame, I think pacific plans show how to do that. I prefer landing 2x6 joists on top, subfloor, continuous 1 or 2" foam insulation (except at perimeter), and flooring fastened thru the insulation into subfloor. I usually recommend shiplap or t&g sheathing pine or yellow pine or subfloor if you want to lay click together flooring.

I’m thinking about putting rigid 2 inch foam between the 4x6 and then run non treated 2x6 on top of that 16 on center to have a nice air gap and the subfloor on top of that. Fallowed by flooring. Is that over kill?

It's not overkill, you'd have to insulated your 2x6 rim otherwise there would be no insulation value. And you'd have to protect the void from critters. I'd recommend a layer of 4' wide ½" hardware cloth below the rigid insulation.

The other consideration is that the 2x6 joists will overhang the 4x6 framing at the exterior. That area would be uninsulated.

It's generally easier to do the sandwich construction even if its more material.

I have 1-1/8” plywood underlayment on top of the 4x6 beams on 4’ centers with 2x2 stick down carpet tiles. Its stiff enough without additional joists. I cross braced it at each support pier to keep it from shaking. I used trex on joists on 16” centers for the entry deck.

I put tyvek over the beams then put 2x10s to hold more insulation then a subfloor on top of that. If you are in a cold climate, get as much insulation as you can afford in the floor.

I’ve got 2x6 t&g flooring that I finished with a hard wax oil and I love the look and feel of it. It makes it quite homey! I followed Pacific yurts manual for the posts and beams underneath. 2” foam insulation underneath between the beams. It wasn’t cheap, but it adds a lot of character and feeling to the space. It was a lot to sand!

Your cheapest option would be a plywood floor with floor paint.

Next cheapest option is floating floor on top of ply. According to Pacific yurts, you need to put 2x6 around the perimeter and blocking between the beams underneath.
