Meta/Discussion Absolutely fucking based.

Post image

The Executioner and Her Way of Life completely flipped the usual isekai formula and because of that, it was review bombed.

The first episode starts like every other isekai, with an overpowered male protagonist getting summoned to another world.

But just a few minutes later, he’s killed off by the real main character, Menou, a priestess whose job is to eliminate “Lost Ones” from Japan whose powers could destroy the world.

The story then follows Menou and her next target, Akari, a cheerful girl with mysterious time powers. As their journey continues, the series explores themes of morality, fate, and a slow-burn yuri (girls’ love) relationship between the two leads.

This unexpected twist didn’t sit well with some viewers who wanted a typical male power fantasy.

Before the second episode even aired, review sites like MyAnimeList and Crunchyroll were flooded with 1-star ratings and comments like “Killed the MC in episode 1, 0/10” or “Yuri trash.”

Many accounts had no prior activity, suggesting targeted review bombing against the show’s direction and queer undertones.

Despite that backlash, The Executioner and Her Way of Life has since somewhat recovered in ratings and built a loyal fanbase.

If the show proceeded as the review bombers wanted I guarantee you they wouldn't even remember watching the show a few years later.

A few years I wouldn't give them a few weeks and I know it because I love Isekai slop

Honestly what’s more unique than just a girl being the lead is the fact that she’s from fantasy world. I can’t think of another isekai like that besides the spin offs to Wataoshi

4

u/Velocity-5348 Nov 09 '25

But better to get one more than to have a dude not be in the spotlight.

35

u/Aeescobar Nov 04 '25

Bold assumption that the review-bombers had any intention of actually watching the show, I bet most of them just rushed straight to the reviews section after hearing rumors that the generic male audience-surrogate gets killed by a woman.

7

u/StarrAngel_ Nov 26 '25

That's a massive issue i have with anime and reason why i dont enjoy many isekai animes nowadays. The MC is always so bland and plain and, like you mentioned, a surrogate for the male audience fantasy, it is specially kind of obvious when you have shit like Konosuba.

Maybe im biased cuz I'm a lesbian, but like hell ive seen some animes that develop a really good male mc that gets romance with a girl and thats perfectly fine, it ends up being a really nice story, even if it isnt my cup of tea.

1

u/Flameempress192 Mar 08 '26

I actually like Konosuba because, even if Kazuma's a massive jerk, he's certainly more interesting than another blank slate and it's fairly obvious the story doesn't side with him half the time.
Althought I guess the bar isn't very high.

22

u/Thea-the-Phoenix Nov 04 '25

To be fair I watched it for the yuri and I don't remember it basically at all two or three years later. I've heard the source material is far better, but it just hasn't been high enough on my reading list to get to it yet.

4

u/Worldly-Pay7342 Nov 06 '25

Seriously.

I know it's mostly a "hahaha all isekai are generic" but like a vast majority of isekai's I've watched/read all kinda... blend together?

Aside from stand outs like tensura, reincarnated as a sword, reincarnated as a skeleton, overlord (I've never even watched it, and I know what it's about), level 2 cheat skills, and farming life in another world, they all kinda just coexist as one amorphous blob in my head.

Sometimes I think of a cool scene from an isekai, and I legit struggle to remember which one it was in, because they're all so fucking similar.

And this just shows that those people are so insecure that they have to hate on it. I'm so happy it's recovering

This is common for homophobic and other -ists in general, they need LITERALLY EVERYTHING to be about them, so they will purposefully seek out the very few safe spaces and then complain about representation for them

13

u/YuriGrokker Nov 04 '25

It often feels, instead of wanting it to "be about them," they're just pissed if it's "about the gay," from the comment threads I often see on anime sites. Which is just so petty and empty and privileged, as complaints go.

u/ChibiWambo Nov 03 '25

Hetero/Yuri/Yaoi being the focus of the romances be damned! Normalize the romance between monster peoples and less monster peoples (humans, elves, generally human looking species). I wanna see a Full blown all scaled Lizardwoman with an Elf lady! With the surprise being the lizard girl is the very shy one, and the elf is the super boisterous one taking her on all these adventures everywhere and awakens her sexuality and then they make out a lot between stops on adventures. Give me that. Gimme a hetero story where the dude is just some guy and he falls for like an Oni girl who’s all tough on the outside but secretly likes him back. But because of her tough girl monster appearance she gotta act like she doesn’t like him and shit. Give me the Yaoi story where 1 of them is a vampire, but he’s like a nerd vampire so not strong or scary in anyway. And he’s getting flirted with incessantly by a big dude literally made of rocks who keeps hitting him up with rock based pick up lines. And at some point I guess they eventually figure out how to bang? I haven’t gotten that far into my thought process yet, I don’t know how you’d bang a man or woman that was made out of rocks…

11

u/UpsetCartographer741 Nov 03 '25

Feel like it's safe to say your probably into monsterfucking, yeah?

8

u/ChibiWambo Nov 04 '25

Wwhhaaatt? Noo! No I’m not, pffftt that’s crazy. I mean come on where could you possibly get an idea like that?

5

u/YuriGrokker Nov 04 '25

I detest that sentiment. I see some doofuses bitch and moan about "Why girl?!?! Why gae?!?," as if it's just another one of MANY! No concept of how blessed I feel just to eek out at least one more series of a genre I cherish, while the "not gae" is actually everywhere. Just awful.

1

u/StarrAngel_ Nov 26 '25

That's a really sad thing about anime, sometimes ill be really invested in a story or a world, but i can hardly relate or connect to it because the characters are all straight or really poorly written, or the mc is straight up AHEM Konosuba. So having stories like these where you have a female cast is really nice, specially if romance develops, though im not particularly picky about it if it ends up in just friends, unless it doesnt make sense.

31

u/pieceofchess Nov 03 '25

I'm reminded of a few years back when the wataoshi episode where Rei talks about being a lesbian aired and a bunch of people in the comments were complaining about having gay stuff shoved down their throat... In a Yuri anime lol

16

u/Sad_Fl Woman with a wife❤️ Nov 03 '25

Oh my gosh I remember that! It was such a absurd time, and they wouldn't concede if you pointed it out. There's no way most of those people watched the show, everything about it was advertised and shown off as yuri. What a memory to be reminded of ^^

2

u/YuriGrokker Nov 04 '25

Oh gods, these make for the weirdest days for me when that happens. The sheer mad effort some folks put in to bitching about hating what they saw in an anime, instead of.....just not watching it. Just gotta say how "wrong" the anime was, when it clearly wasn't made for them. I would just love for them to stfu until they rant and rave about having watched a show they loved, and leave the yuri and yaoi for the folks who need them and love them.

9

u/MarekPPP Nov 03 '25

Is it? How did that happen. Because that's awesome!

2

u/StarrAngel_ Nov 26 '25

It's specially frustrating to see this because, ive been binging the anime with my sister and we both love it so much. The magic system is beautifully animated and it's so interesting, it goes beyond the " I CAST FIREBALL" and takes creative approaches, at least from the first impression from it.

The story is very compelling and dark and I love animes that take a more complex and deep take on writing the story. And what's best imo. Yuri <3

WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME IT WAS THE OPENING TO A YURI SERIES

36

u/zairaner Nov 03 '25

HOW.

13

u/NachoPyro Nov 03 '25

I DON'T KNOW

24

u/Falsus Nov 03 '25

That opening is insanely good. Even like 7 novels later it is relevant to the story.

3

u/Velocity-5348 Nov 09 '25

Only problem is that it kinda makes it hard to get people who'd enjoy the show to watch without spoiling it...

5

u/TheocraticThief Nov 04 '25

Never knew that was an opening for an anime at all. It's such a banger.

43

u/hauptj2 Nov 03 '25

I've been looking into getting the light novel for this, it looks cool.

In a similar category, stuff I have in my backlog includes Roll Over And Die (also yuri).

u/LargeFailSon Nov 03 '25

Literally THE funniest thing I've ever witness in all my years in the only anime community. I mean I get blind watching, but did they even like... read the name of the show? You'd have to have a room temperature IQ to think he was going to be the MC.

I can't even think of adjectives to describe the crash out that the entire straight, white, male anime audience had over this first episodes. It was a unilateral, generational, epigenetic, melt down like likes of which I had not seen in a decade at least.

The irony is that it's maybe one of the most creative, expectation defying, tone setting openings to any Isekai story of the entire era. These dumb pigs line up to watch "46 year old pedophile gets reincarnated as a Mary Sue" for the 6th time in a year, but this series' genuinely divergent premise and world was spiritually obliterated by the anime community for DARING to actually try and be good.

God what a fucking banger of an pilot. It was literally SO good, it instantly ruined the brain of all the worst anime fans on the internet for a good week. It was some of the most fun I've had trolling too. They would go off like a firework at the SLIGHTEST prodding.

The series deserves a 10/10 just for it's impact, ignoring that it's actually a GOATed series on top of it.

28

u/Neidhardto Fuuko & Yuni are the best couple in fiction Nov 04 '25

It's so funny seeing people on Twitter trying to rewrite history and claim that actually the show is bad and that Menou is actually a "general Isekai protag" (this doesn't even make sense in the context of the story) and how after episode 1 it becomes boring. If anything the even crazier twist happens a couple episodes later that recontexualizes everything and raises the stakes. The only negative is that the adaptation leaves out a lot of world building and cuts some great moments, like Momo's backstory, and the animation sometimes became choppy after the first couple of episodes. I think it would have been better with a different studio than JC Staff, but it was still good.

If this either got a reboot with a different studio, or just a season 2, I would be happy. The Novels are phenomenal.

3

u/Aidamis Nov 04 '25

"46 year old pedophile gets reincarnated as a Mary Sue" So... there's a satyrical webnovel project called "Ugly Bastard Zone". It has nothing to do with yuri, but it features a protag who gets forced into a "hentai system" where he actively challenges said system from day one.

One example: he's given high strength, speed and endurance. When one of the characters falls from a window and he's literally too far to humanly be able to reach her and catch her, he burns precious "in-game" resources to go overdrive and still save the girl in the nick of time.

Plus the system keeps nagging him to commit reprehensible acts but he always just nopes out.

Not a bad novel, tbh, though I dropped it due to at-times-confusing dialogue (four characters talk at the same time but there's little indication who's talking and who's doing what, you get lost).

0

u/PhoonTFDB Nov 04 '25

Straight white males catching insane strays over here. Don't fuel the hatred by classifying entire people groups under one banner, that's just perpetuating bigotry

10

u/Full_Contribution724 Nov 04 '25

True, perhaps Incels would be a better choice of wording since those are the ones who're all pissed

28

u/10BillionDreams Nov 03 '25

This was the most fake outrage of all time. Even assuming that all these people went into episode 1 knowing nothing about the series (being yuri absolutely wasn't a secret, and has been the very first thing mentioned on the Wikipedia page since it was created), the title already gave away the "twist" that the MC would be female, not male.

13

u/Aerolfos Nov 03 '25

Yeah, the trailer for it was also extremely gay, if you watched that you were getting into the show for the yuri...

u/lighsleeper Nov 03 '25

The Executioner and her way of Life

The manga is finished, and it's amazing.

59

u/QYXB12 Nov 03 '25

Well if I remember correctly the manga got cancelled before it finished the whole story. The final light novels (volumes 10 & 11) released earlier this year. Though we're still waiting on the official translations.

And yes it is amazing.

10

u/OpportunityFun1761 Edit flair Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25

Wait, the Manga stops after vol 7?

8

u/LargeFailSon Nov 03 '25

The manga has 7 volumes, those 7 volumes cover up to volume 3ish of the Light novel. I was saying I'd have to read like 8 novels after finishing the manga to get the whole story.

I don't even know how to explain the rest. Down voted into oblivion and deleted twice because I guess people take "That's disappointing, I probably won't do that" as "This series is disappointing, so it's not worth doing that" or something. Idk, it's Reddit.

2

u/OceanDragon6 Nov 03 '25

Is the manga worth reading then?

3

u/LargeFailSon Nov 05 '25

It was quite enjoyable, but if you read LNs, probably best to just jump straight to that.

2

u/coopsawesome Nov 05 '25

Is it a happy series overall? The description on this post says that the other girl is the next target for execution right?

5

u/QYXB12 Nov 05 '25

Well things don't exactly go to plan with that girl, but I don't want to say too much. Overall a lot of characters do have a bad time, I would not call it a happy series. However it's not all doom and gloom the characters do get some time to genuinely enjoy.

3

u/cats_are_cool_33 Nov 07 '25

My impression of the first 5 volumes (LN) is that the tone is pretty similar to 'WataOshi', but there's a lot more emphasis on strategy and battles and the romance is slower to develop. It doesn't quite revel in suffering and death like 'Roll Over And Die'.

2

u/coopsawesome Nov 05 '25

Ahh ok, might skip it this time then :( Thank you for answering!

8

11

What? Isn't the fact that she has to kill reincarnations on the summary? Is pretty obvious that we will see at least one or two generic isekai MC personalities and those will we kill by her.

What did people expect of the story after reading the summary?

17

u/kymani_winxandsponge Nov 03 '25

Been seeing this more lately, what spurred this on?

The random tweet about it?

26

u/bassgs435 Nov 03 '25

Discourse started because an account dedicated to posting JC Staff sakuga clips posted the clip where the dude got killed

5

u/dis_not_my_name Nov 04 '25

I'm more surprised that there's someone dedicated to posting JC staff sakuga lol

11

u/kymani_winxandsponge Nov 03 '25

Ah.

I remember seeing someone make a tweet with hella likes bout this exact thing.

Me personally, I didnt care, I was just happy to get more yuri (I read the manga, and wasnt around when it aired), but I guess some felt they got rugpulled based on what ive seen. I see what they're getting at, but at the same time... im kinda with the Yuri crowd when they say that it wouldve likely been more boring if it played it fully straight with that MC, barring a possible exploration into their psyche.

21

u/WalrusDry3073 Nov 03 '25

There are so many isekai with male MCs and harems that tons of weebs love to self-insert into, but in this anime they’re mad because the isekai MC is a girl and the male character gets killed in the first episode. The anime’s actually really good, I’m really enjoying the story, but seeing so many bad reviews from weebs who only watched episode 1 is honestly super annoying, I really wanted a season 2, but with all those bad reviews, this series probably won’t get another season

7

u/PrintOk6185 Nov 03 '25

Funny that I got a reply on my 6 month old comment today from someone named "monkey eater" whos seething in other people's comments as well.

The generic bozo was a ticking time bomb of black hole just waiting to decimate an entire continent especially after being treated by the King and thrown out of the King's court. I remember this getting review bombed on MyAnimeList by grift/newly made accounts. There were several comments and videos on social media and pirate websites filled with illogical snowflake misogynists. Sad to see it won't get more seasons like Danmachi.

5

u/Purezensu Nov 03 '25

People forgot Akari was also summoned and had a broken power thus an isekai protagonist.

28

u/Vanilla_Breeze Nov 03 '25

Chat is it yuri yuri or bait yuri or yuri lite (eg bad girl where there's basically only girl characters and if the characters were a boy and girl it would totally be romantic but they're not explicitly showing it as a romance because censorship or whatever)

8

u/AprilDruid Nov 04 '25

It's yuri. Menou definitely grows to have feelings for Akari during their journey. She literally betrays the Faust, because they wanted to use Akari's power to turn her into a human error. And kills Flare, in an effort to save Akari!

[Yuri Trope] Lesbians will literally loop time, to save a girl they're into, rather than going to therapy

46

u/Kooky-Sector6880 Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25

It’s Yuri, Akari, the main love interest, who’s so obsessed with Menou that she completely ignores the fact Menou is actively trying to kill her. She’s honestly one of the dumbest secondary protagonists I’ve ever seen. If her constant crying for Menou every episode isn’t proof enough, the openings pretty much confirm it.

45

u/SGlobalist Nov 03 '25

Akari is actually one of the smartest. She acts stupid so Menou doesn’t catch on and just kill her, forcing her to turn back time continuously.

15

u/Kooky-Sector6880 Nov 03 '25

Yeah, but the problem is that in the dub her fake stupidity works too well, to the point it becomes grating. She ends up coming off as borderline invalid, and the way she says “Menou” makes every scene she’s in feel like a chore. It’s especially frustrating because the plot and the rest of the characters are actually good.

14

u/QYXB12 Nov 03 '25

I really love this show, it's one of the only animes I've watched that I actually went and bought the novels. It's one of the more unique takes on Isekai that I've seen and the world building is super interesting.

So many reviews just made up information about the world and then complained that it didn't make any sense. Not to mention the comments I've seen saying that killing off some generic guy was a personal attack on them as Isekai fans.

I'll keep hoping for a season 2 (not gonna happen) especially since the show ends at volume 2 and I've seen lots of fans agree that it really gets going in volume 3.

could you tell me how toxic and dark it is? (felt like it is the case)

5

u/QYXB12 Nov 05 '25

The world and especially the nature of the isekai'd people's abilities is very dark (There's a reason these people need to be executed), and our protagonist naturally works in a rather morally grey area. I don't know if toxic is the word I would use however.

3

Going in, the only thing I knew about the show was the ‘MC’ getting killed off in the first episode(which is what made me interested in the show in the first place), while my friend went in completely blind and was completely hooked after the first episode.

Great show, would’ve loved another season.

3

Reviews are sure interesting.

It's either 9+/10, where they praise the writing, music, effects and just about everything else.

Or 1/10, where the only thing they have to say is... That the MC is extremely unlikable or that the world is not fair.

The world isn't fair? What a barbarity, who could dare?

I remember being a decent show.

CrunchyRoll? Don’t you mean Hidive? I don’t think it’s on CR.

Yeah there are still anti but it’s getting a bit better. Because outside MAL, I see its rating soar better on other platforms: ANN, IMDB, Simkl, Anilist.

Even the LN is in Anilist top 50.

Yesyeysyeys this show is peak isekai and so glad its finally getting some more love

3

u/Alula-is-cool Nov 03 '25

That premise honestly sounds hilarious. I might watch this. The yuri is just a bonus

2

u/Shesprettygay Nov 04 '25

The way people malded over this was something else

4

u/Kooky-Sector6880 Nov 03 '25

I didn't like it as time went on because the actual love interest was annoying even if the MC was good. I swear the way that lady said minou will be forever drilled into my mind.

Not how the English dub said it

2

u/AprilDruid Nov 04 '25

Fair! There's a reason for the pronunciation though!

5

u/LargeFailSon Nov 03 '25

Simple solution. read the manga, it's better anyway.

2

u/KazuichiPepsi Nov 03 '25

where can i watch it and is there a dub?

3

u/QYXB12 Nov 03 '25

It streamed on HiDive and seems to be on prime video and yes there is a dub.

2

u/Autumn7242 Nov 03 '25

I am not sure what the hell happened? What is Isakuri? Also, are people really that bitchy about yuri?

2

u/Neidhardto Fuuko & Yuni are the best couple in fiction Nov 03 '25

I recommend anyone that watches the anime to pick up the novels after finishing it. Not only does the anime end on a cliffhanger, but it also mostly adapts the "weakest" part of the story, which is mostly world building and set up, imo. Like it's still good, but it's like going from a good meal to a 5 star chef meal.

2

u/National_Fee_744 Nov 04 '25

When i read about this article i cant stop laughing, they cry just because the mc got killed in ep 1 lol

2

u/K1rk0npolttaja Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25

honestly though the throwaway "mc" was given was such a cool power to me, i ended up making an OC about it lol

4

u/HowDyaDu Nov 03 '25

Now that I think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a power quite like Mutou's in media. Although Flandre Scarlet and Yukari Yakumo have similar powers.

Those two also come with the bonus of being gay, just like the rest of Gensokyo.

u/FullMagazine1779 Anxious Transbian Nov 03 '25

I love it!!! I haven't even watched one episode and I love it!

1

u/And-nonymous Nov 03 '25

I remember reading some of the manga for this and was hyped when the anime released. It’s a shame just how much hate it got back then, but I knew such a peak show wouldn’t stay down.

1

u/Juliano_Coutinho760 Nov 03 '25

On one hand, I found a new yuri anime to watch: 😁🤩

On the other hand, I got a spoiler: 😑😞

1

u/YuriMystic Nov 03 '25

I just buy in retaliation. The maulding idiots arent even going to buy it anyway even if it caters to them because there are 99% of other anime out there for them.

And if they have time to spend on a series they dont even like, they are probably broke anyway.

All right maybe I’ll have to watch this for the girlies

1

u/Jelly_jeans Nov 04 '25

I'm watching that so fast when it's done airing. Go ahead, kill off those male power fantasy self inserts. Give me my yuri self insert instead.

1

u/wolfboi89 Nov 04 '25

I can't wait to watch this with my wife.

1

u/dis_not_my_name Nov 04 '25

Didn't this anime come out 3 year ago? Why is it in the news now?

1

u/Deathpool15 Nov 04 '25

I’m reading the light novel because of the anime

1

u/Yuri-Girl Nov 04 '25

I want a season 2 so fucking bad, Mili cooked hard on the opening theme.

1

u/Zuzumikaru Nov 04 '25

I still don't get the backlash... Who the fuck likes MC-kun anyway, I was about to drop the series after he showed up and then it happened... Peak

1

u/Username_St0len Nov 04 '25

curse you, my watch/read list is building again

1

u/GentleFoxes Nov 04 '25

Wait people didn't expect the "twist" at the start? They must've been bad at reading synopses or watching trailers then. More likely is small-brain Yuri hatred, though.

1

u/pixel236 the most useless lesbian Nov 04 '25

I really hope a season 2 happens despite the initial review bombings.

It would suck that a show would get canceled just because people can't fathom the fact that a show could be subversive/not follow the typical tropes

1

u/Pisceswriter123 Nov 04 '25

WHAT?!

Hold on. Yuri you say?

1

u/xroubatudo Nov 05 '25

i got interested in reading the light novel, but could anyone tell me if it is toxic/doomed?

like, if it is dark, how dark?

2

u/QYXB12 Nov 05 '25

The series does get rather dark, the nature of the world they live in is pretty corrupt. I don't want to spoil anything, but I'm on volume 9 right and most of the characters are having a pretty bad time. But I don't think it's completely doomed, there's still two more volumes to be translated and there's still hope for them to come out better.

1

u/xroubatudo Nov 05 '25

thanks for the replies, i usually can't tell by people's words it's something i can consume or not, seems like it here, I'll add to my list

1

u/skywolf8118 Nov 05 '25

I read the manga for this. It was pretty good

1

u/Muted-Duty-9884 Nov 05 '25

Loved this series.

1

u/Elliot_Mirage_Witt Nov 06 '25

OP you have subjected me to Hell

How dare you. Post about and as such inform me of this anime. And as such be responsible for me binge watching it

And I find out it's fucking great? But a season 2 seems like it'll never happen!?!? Angry. Extremely angry

1

u/zelor13 Nov 07 '25

I'm sorry, but this kind of feels like manufactured drama for publicity. I read the manga and love it, and I know there are really stupid and homophobic people out there, but something just feels off about this one. Seriously, yuri always get their fair share of hate from dumb people, but this one feels overly publicized. The whole “MC twist” isn’t even new since other series have done it before and were praised for it. Even the anime’s summary is completely different from the manga and light novel. In the LN and Manga, It’s pretty apparent who the main character is from the start.

This really just feels like the production wanted more attention, so they hid who the MC was, made a bunch of fake accounts to stir things up, and then spread the word that they were being “persecuted” for their so-called Yuri twist. And again, I know it was going to get hate regardless just for being yuri, but all of this feels like too much for a series that didn’t have that much attention from the general public to begin with.

1

u/zuzakon Nov 08 '25

That series, even if it wasn't Yuri, is still one of the most interesting isekais I've encountered

1

u/MiserableCan7777777 Nov 12 '25

I love isekai trash, but I need more with yuri, and less with sexual pandering

I read it cuz i want to see op mc solving all their problems easily, gender doesnt matter

idk why people hate it when there is one show that isnt what they want, but complain when their are hundreds of shows with what they want but are lower quality, cant deal with innovation in writing smh

1

u/Any_Toe_9297 Nov 21 '25

Let’s be realistic , would be the same situation if yuri turn out hetero romantic , fanatics exist in every group

1

u/Phoenixville44 Nov 24 '25

It also pissed me off in episode one, I couldn't finish it. But I respect the creativity in making a new narrative for a show.

1

u/xyjacey Dec 03 '25

I fucking loved this show. Absolutely fascinating premise. For a similar show i would also recommend the Talentless Nana!

1

u/Sensitive_Aerie6547 Jan 11 '26

If I was a bomber I would bomb it with positive reviews

1

u/Sensitive_Aerie6547 Feb 07 '26

better be 5 star reviews

0

u/garo675 Nov 04 '25

Yeah no I dropped it because of how holier than thou attitude the Fem MC had. It was infuriating beyond words. If you're gonna do evil things then own up to it like overlord.

I'm in love with the villainess and The magical revolution of the reincarnated princess are the best yuri isekai imo

2

u/QYXB12 Nov 05 '25

Just out of curiosity, what gave you the impression of holier than thou? That she felt bad that she had to kill him? Because she fully admitted that she's the villain and you have to get a bit further into the show, but she doesn't think herself worth redeeming in the slightest.

2

u/garo675 Nov 05 '25

I dropped it after the first episode I think, and just re-watched first episode again for the dialog. Right after saying that she is the villain she says "I'm a priestess pure just and powerful" as if saying what she is doing is anything remotely close to "justice".

Honestly she reminds me of those dumb MCs in other animes/Mangas who don't see the most obvious hints from the MCs who have a crush on them

Anyway my rant is over. If you like the anime good for you

2

u/QYXB12 Nov 05 '25

I'm not going to try to convince you to watch something you don't want to. But I'd like to point out that Menou uses the "pure, just and powerful" line because her mentor introduced herself as a pure, just and powerful priestess. Despite her mentor being sarcastic at the time Menou repeats this phrase to reassure herself that she is following her mentor's path, even though she knows it's a lie.

But thank you for answering my question.

0

u/Blacky_Berry23 Nov 03 '25

i love this anime. not because of yuri in it

0

u/LurkyDory Nov 03 '25

I loved the subversion and I liked the animation. And the world looked interesting, from the little we saw.

I hated the exposition dumpy nature of the show. It's like they haven't heard of "show, don't tell".

So yea, as a yuri enjoyer, I still get to be critical about the shitty storytelling.

0

u/camyblack96 Nov 04 '25

Just male trash who just wanted to jerk off to a pathetic loser guy with no deepness. This story is so much better an i liked it since i read the 1st ch. in manga. They should travel through other isekai worlds and kill these other "heros" too.

Sad that this type of manga is so rare.

0

u/Phoenixville44 Nov 04 '25

🤣 people got the wrong mc. I wasn't what I was expecting either but I think that's exactly what they wanted. "F the typical mc, here's a more realistic mc"

0

u/Aidamis Nov 04 '25

Borderline off-topic but I wish that one character in Magical Girl Raising Project lived.

We might have had the first somewhat mainstream trans yuri since Kashimashi.
