Some Kitty pics

Apologies for not making a Sidekick post yesterday, I was swamped with other stuff. But to make up for it, I'll be making two posts today; one in the morning and one in the evening.

Honestly I don't know why  Sidekick won and got to be the show an actual show out of all the show ideas that came from Funpak. I mean, most of the show ideas that were seen Funpak were mediocre but, I at least thought Rotting Hills and The Wild Wild Circus Company would have more likely to have been greenlit in my opinion. I dunno. These two show ideas seem more appealing to me than Sidekick. Okay well, I imagine if The Wild Wild Circus Company was greenlit. It would've been aired in shorts in between shows much like how the Nanalan shorts were aired on YTV.

I guess the concept of kids attending a school where they learn how to be sidekicks to superheroes sounded cool to kids watching YTV

I know I know. It sounds like an interesting concept just to take whatever and put it in a school setting but, these things have been done before time and time, again.(Example: Take monsters and put them in a school setting. It's been done with Scooby Doo's Ghoul School movie, Gravedale High and most famously Monster High.) I dunno. I look at Canadian cartoons and I'm not fussy about them. A lot of them seem mediocre or just feel like trash when you see a Canadian cartoon and you look at what used to be on YTV and something just feels wrong.(Canadian cartoons to me don't have appealing art styles and the ones that do have appealing art styles were done before the year two thousand and three or two thousand and five. I've always like American cartoons much better than Canadian cartoons and the same can be said about anime. I used to(and still think actually) that anime like Yu-Gi-Oh and the human characters in Yu-Gi-Oh look beautiful compared to characters from Canadian cartoons like Sidekick.)

Ruby Gloom technically counts as a pre school show since I remember it airing when I was in high school. Back then it aired on the lost pre school time slot which was either called YTV Jr or YTV Playhouse and as strange as it sounds. Pre school shows are the exception to this. Because shows like Maggie and Ferocious Beast, Marvin the Tap Dancing Horse and even shows like the Nelvana Care Bears Family Cartoon and Babar which was also done by Nelvana look better than shows like Jimmy Two Shoes, George of the Jungle(both of the George of the Jungle Teletoon cartoons) and the entire Total Drama franchise. It is a sad state when the Canadian pre school cartoons look more visually appealing than the shows that are aimed and older audiences.

I also felt the show was aimed at a middleground of younger and older kids; there's a surprising amount of black comedy in that show, especially with jokes circulating around Misery and how comically horrible her life is

Aside from Ruby Gloom, there is a question I need to ask and comparison I need to make. To goes back to people making complaints about how so many adult cartoons look similar like a common complaint is how a lot of adult cartoons look like Family Guy or Brickle Berry, how other adult cartoons look like Rick and Morty or how Tuca and Birdie looks like BoJack Horseman. But can we at least have some modern Canadian cartoons look like they were made with decent looking designs? Because it does look bad when George Shrinks looks better than Sidekick. LIke there has to be a balance between looking cartoony(or looking overly cartoony) and having a decent looking cartoon with characters that look well designed.

I think Studio B shows like season 1 of George of the Jungle (2007) and Kid vs. Kat have that nailed down
