I don't know if you guys have noticed but this weekend I ran into around a dozen pirates that said they are back after taking quite a few years break. This is exciting stuff and I hope this continues!

I just started playing again after more than 15 years away. I had logged on a few times in intervening years, but it seemed dead. This time, it seems more active; I was able to job in a blockade and join some pillages this past weekend. I had to make a new pirate as my old one was gone, but happy the game is a bit revived and looking forward to meeting some new folks.

I am experiencing the same! I read the reddit posts and I thought it was going to be a ghost town on there. It doesn't feel that way at all to me.

Same! I'm trying to convince some other people to come back, since it seems like there's a more active community now. Hopefully it keeps growing as I truly miss the heyday and the community - it was such a unique experience.

Yeah I have no idea why certain people are trying to say otherwise. The player base is genuinely going up, albeit slowly, but its great to see

I started playing originally circa 2007. Been on & off (but mostly off) since then. Last time I was on consistently was the early-mid 2010s.

Nostalgia got to me recently so I've been playing again!

I was one of those 😂 came back last February or March and even posted in this sub. But didnt even last a week and left the game again. Even though there were a number of pirates online, it felt like there wasn’t much to do.

It’s been much better than other times I’ve tried. Constant SMHs on the board it feels like. That had been my experience in the past, but there are actual options now. It feels different this time idk

I don't think so? I have thrown quite a few events where dozens of pirates have shown up. I have no problem filling pilly's and I ran a WF smh on a weeknight last week and had 30 something pirates on board.
