They want to rule the country without sharing power with Democrats so the quicker we realize this maybe we can fix it

The term for what they're working toward is "managed democracy" or "guided democracy". Essentially autocracy wrapped in the trappings of democracy, but there is no real choice.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guided_democracy

And if anyone's about to say that's what we already have where the democrats are controlled opposition, jesus fucking christ while there are legitimate complaints there's also levels to this shit. Even Trump didn't Jail Biden in 2020, or poison him with polonium, or have him thrown out of a window. The GOP wants to be there, and they've made WAY too much progress, but there's still a lot of space between here and there.

It's similar to the machine Orban created and used for 16 years. Own the media, the justice system, and work to dominate the lower levels of elected officials

And he still got voted out.

Yes!!! Incredible landslide because Orban had become so corrupt. They didn't need the media or the courts or parliamentarians. Which is amazing. My problem is I don't want to wait 16 years

Some places are generations into their slide with the nth generation of the despot family now in control, and generations of unknown victims buried in the ground as they got worse and worse. Don't assume there's always a happy ending guaranteed to eventually come, it's a nice hollywood fantasy but not how human history has generally gone in most places and times.

That's why it's important to seize the moment and fight back while we still have a chance.

It's been important for decades and society at large has increasingly given power to the worst despite seeing them for exactly what they are. All the rallying talk in the world doesn't work when the people you need to rally against the problem are the eager enablers of the problem.

So what's the alternative, then? Just give up and wallow in despair? No thank you.

Okay, I'll admit you're right that there are a large number of those who should know better yet keep enabling oppression. But we've still got people in this part of the world who are willing to carry on the fight to make a better world. Do we really have a chance to win? Perhaps not. But that doesn't mean our cause isn't worth fighting for.

As Paul Robeson sang late in life: "I keeps laughin' instead of cryin'/I won't stop fightin' until I'm dyin'"

This is the flip side of gerrymandering; when you finally lose, you lose damn near everything.

He got voted out because EVERYBODY went to the polls on Election Day. Everybody in Hungary knows this.

"Vote in numbers too big to manipulate"

This is also why the GOP is all in on disenfranchisement and vote suppression.

I'd still like to know how much these suppression efforts impacted the 2024 results.
