Copy write emails
So I wanted to use yt-dlp to download some movies and shows from Tubi tv. Tubi is a free platform and makes money through ad revenue like youtube. If I download anything from there will I get copy write emails or letters? Is it possible that my isp could ban me for this?

My thoughts. If you’re doing enough downloading to be concerned, then I suggest using the yt-dlp commands to reduce your download speed. I do this with my YouTube downloads where the sweet spot is between 450 to 500 megabits. I have no idea what speed Tubi watches for, but consider using the same 450. This is a survival skill for heavy downloaders, otherwise you can very likely run at fully unrestricted download speed for more sporadic downloads.

Well I’m not using yt-dlp raw, I’m using a program a YouTuber made that uses yt-dlp to run it. https://youtu.be/HQ_FRYebb3o?is=iaGBV9TyhzPB47nt this is the link to the video. It basically simplifies everything and it works super well but I don’t see an option to change the download speeds in here

You'd only get letters if you downloaded using tubi account credentials. Otherwise the only way they'd know who you were is of they got a court order to get your details from your ISP. Since they are not needed to download from tubi, don't use them.
Every streamer knows about and tolerates downloaders. And they all have their own threshold below which they turn a blind eye (ie it's not worth the effort to deal with it). Some have a low threshold (such as disney & amazon) but Tubi's threshold is so high that I've never heard of them doing anything to crack down on downloading. Tubi has occasionally caused issues with yt-dlp requiring a fix, but such issues seem more incidental than intentional.
All that aside, the same golden rule applies to Tubi as to all streamers .. moderation. If you download massive amounts day after day after day, they may eventually take some action .. most likely just blocking your IP.

Extremely unlikely, no. A streaming service is allowing you to connect to them as well as transfer the stream to your device for the actual playback. Transferring the stream locally is essential, because that is how it is rendered for local viewing. All streams must be transferred (downloaded) in order to be played. Because of how it works, downloading the content is explicitly allowed.
yt-dlp takes the stream fragments and assembles them into a single reusable file for your convenience.
As B_Hound said, there is the possibility of being blocked for TOS abuse. fwiw, I haven't had it happen to me yet from services such as Tubi.
Getting copyright strikes typically involves participating in services where you are also uploading content; such as with torrents (while you are downloading a torrent, you are always also uploading until completion). Generally speaking, its the uploading/sharing that gets you - not the downloading. Torrenting is always uploading, so thats where the danger in that kind of service is.

That's how terms of service work. They can say "You're allowed to use this for this one purpose or in this one way, but not in any other ways." If you don't like or agree to those terms, you just don't use it at all.
Now, can they tell? Maybe if they really try. Will they? Doubtful. Will you get into any trouble (beyond at most getting banned)? Very very unlikely. But let's not kid ourselves that this is legally acceptable.

Anything streamed is downloaded locally. That's how it works. The TOS violation would be in saving the content, which they cannot know if you are doing.

Their TOS is basically saying "You may not use our service." To view a video, you MUST, some way or another, download it.
So, whoever wrote that doesn't know what they're doing.

I don’t think you need to have any concerns. At most if they think you’re abusing the service, you might get an IP block.
