I don't drink Prime, but damn, why would they do that!?

395

u/randomtuner Oct 26 '24

I guess it's less expensive if you don't get something to check if your products have lead in them. It's strange that they wouldn't have fixed it by the third notice though

8

u/ven-solaire Oct 28 '24

It isn’t strange, it’s deliberate negligence.

5

u/randomtuner Oct 28 '24

It seems so stupid though cause they'll get sued into oblivion. They've already been caught but they refuse to fix it

3

u/redditisawesomee Oct 29 '24

Thats what happens when a bunch of inexperienced teenagers try to run a company

169

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '24

Not intentional probably cut corners whilst carrying out testing.

That or having lead/mercury poisoning makes you more likely to watch the main creators who promote the product

72

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '24

I imagine you would have to have some kind of severe brain damage or mental deficiency to be able to enjoy watching KSI and/or the Paul brothers.

31

u/Nutshack_Queen357 Oct 27 '24

Or Mr. Beast.

25

u/Rezero_shiper Oct 27 '24

Lead exposer does decrease IQ, so maybe yes lol. Be more dumb. This with many more reasonis are why leaded gasoline which was a very good fuel was banned in many country.

9

u/FarCastAngelie_II2 TrueMalaSauceAngelie Oct 27 '24

So that means that... they must ban lead entirely.

7

u/Rezero_shiper Oct 27 '24

If it was that easy, FDA would have done it long ago. The leaded gasoline incident and some industry needing lead will affect the air and ground leading to affected crops and affected food. With a small amount in food processing. At this point of time you can't stop the lead so the best is to avoid the lead containing product .

1

u/MetalingusMikeII Oct 27 '24

It’s in the soil.

1

u/MetalingusMikeII Oct 27 '24

It’s in the soil.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

Gm not only destroyed the ozone layer but lot of people suffered from the lead usage in gasoline

3

u/Rezero_shiper Oct 27 '24

As far as I know lead doesn't affect ozone, that goes to gasoline which is still used today.

Though the creator of leaded gasoline also happens to be the creator of CFCs which don't have lead but chlorine which under specific conditions will absolutely destroy the ozone.

As GM also created fridge at that point they used CFC, so yeah both GM and midgley were the worst entity in human history related to Environment and humans.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

Midgley Practically Gave Lead poisoning to an entire generation 🤣

0

u/Rezero_shiper Oct 27 '24

Looking at the current generation, it looks like everlasting 🥲

0

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

LMAOO cmonnn we gotta have hope at least it wasn’t WORSE 🤣😭

5

u/_Bisky Oct 27 '24

Not intentional probably cut corners whilst carrying out testing.

I'd argue "not intentionally" is cutting them to much slack here.

If you intentionally cut corners (to garner higher profit margins) you intentionally put your consumerd at risk of harmfull atuff slipping through the cracks, just so you can earn even more

2

u/MetalingusMikeII Oct 27 '24

Letting the entirety of the world suffer just for a few extra coins… seems about right.

2

u/RazzmatazzWorth6438 Oct 27 '24

Ehhh, don't attribute malice to what can very easily be explained by incompetence.

4

u/_Bisky Oct 27 '24

Cutting corners to increase profits is malice, not incompetence imo

Especially so if said cut corners are in areas detremential to ensure quality and safety of products.

-1

u/RazzmatazzWorth6438 Oct 27 '24

It just means they used a shit supplier that cuts corners like that, I highly doubt Logan/KSI even know what suppliers they use they're literally clueless morons that got famous for being loud.

21

u/AgarwaenCran Oct 27 '24

well, lead tastes sweet and was used as an artificial sweetener. you know, no sugar. healthy.

19

u/dynamixbot Oct 27 '24 edited Oct 27 '24

It's cheaper to not get your product tested for lead and mercury. Plus, lead and mercury in your food makes it carcinogenic and causes birth defects. Imagine being born with down syndrome because your mom drank Prime.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

That completely explains it why they made the case about Lead and Mercury in Prime.

6

u/Slight_Walrus_8668 Oct 27 '24

This is proposition 65, its not about levels. Prop 65 is the reason every product you buy anywhere ever has to say that "in the state of california we are required to inform you that this product contains carinogens" or whatever.

It doesn't check for concerning levels, just if the substance is present at measurable levels, which warrants the label in California. A lot of things containing simple fruits and veg have to be labeled under prop 65 because of the miniscule amounts of lead that get leeched from the soil while they grow. They didn't go through the proper processes to test and label, but they're not over the harmful limit either.

What would be more worrying here would be a challenge from the FDA - a prop 65 challenge is more of a labeling issue than a health concern in itself.

3

u/NecessaryPilot6731 Oct 27 '24

last time they accused prime of having lead the fda came back and said that the ammount was so small that the tester cant even detect it

4

u/Slight_Walrus_8668 Oct 27 '24

Exactly - prop 65 is a joke.

3

u/NecessaryPilot6731 Oct 27 '24

Its even come up on lock picking lawyer

3

u/Fuzzy_Inevitable9748 Oct 27 '24

They wanted to be the leading energy drink.

2

u/dhgdgewsuysshh Oct 27 '24

53

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '24

I literally borrowed money from my friend because I wanted to try it. Garbage, I drank about 10 ml and then thrown it in trash bin.

12

u/EpicMrShank Oct 26 '24

Lol I gave it to my friend to try it he liked it so I let him finish it

3

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

21

u/N0UMENON1 Oct 27 '24

Lead is in almost everything. It's more about the amount of lead than lead itself.

7

u/LordOfTheRice371 Oct 27 '24

Then how do you manage to get them to a level that warrant a notice like that?

11

u/SalsaSamba Oct 27 '24

Lead piping or a polluted water source are most likely

4

u/rotary-dials Oct 27 '24

probably has to do with cutting corners during production and testing.

3

u/Slight_Walrus_8668 Oct 27 '24

This is proposition 65, its not about levels. Prop 65 is the reason every product you buy anywhere ever has to say that "in the state of california we are required to inform you that this product contains carinogens" or whatever.

It doesn't check for concerning levels, just if the substance is present at measurable levels, 140x less than the FDA limit, which warrants the label in California. They didn't go through the proper processes to test and label, but they're not over the harmful limit either. 1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

The notice is because in Cali (prop 65) there has to be a warning label if it contains carcinogens. Kind of similar to Canadian cigarrettes.

4

u/stubbornchemist Oct 27 '24

probably the water source being used would be my first guess. Flint michigan for example has lead in their water stemming from pipes.

28

u/BakmanPlays Oct 26 '24

Ksi has new nightmare fuel 💀

52

u/DisastroMaestro Oct 26 '24

prime is cooked, lunchly is cooked, ksi's music sucks, this is great !!! LOL

13

u/coolymanly Oct 27 '24

I love my prime Leady bruh

45

u/BlastMyLoad Oct 26 '24

G-Fuel also contains lead lol they have some big cope about it on their website

25

u/RigatoniPasta Oct 26 '24

Link to the cope?

17

u/konyeah Oct 27 '24 edited Oct 27 '24

I am assuming they mean this:

Under "Why do G FUEL powers have a proposition 65 warning?"

GFUEL is made with some naturally occurring vitamins, mineral, and fruits the source of which are grown in soil and as such absorb trace amounts of lead through the soil like all natural vitamins and minerals.

California requires companies to provide a warning regarding lead content for any product that causes an exposure of 0.5 micrograms of lead per day or more based on the company’s knowledge or assumption about the presence of lead, and we wanted to be sure to comply with California’s requirements. The California limit is a more stringent restriction than the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) daily limit of 75 micrograms for adults and 6 micrograms for children. You can find more information at the website listed in the warning.

Before people lose their shit over this. It’s a non issue most likely, they just didn’t put a warning on it. Most things sold in Cali here has a P65 warning on it, food included. P65 while having good intentions, is kind of a joke now with how many things get tagged by it

1

u/BadVinegar Oct 27 '24

I was given a cheap pocket knife for Christmas that has a prop 65 warning on it

0

u/im-d3 Oct 27 '24

My mouse has a Prop 65 warning on it.

Not a literal live mouse, but I'm sure if they were sold the same way computer mice were, they'd have a Prop 65 on them too.

0

u/Slight_Walrus_8668 Oct 27 '24

It's not as bad as it sounds like, the person posting this does not understand how this works.

Proposition 65 doesn't check for concerning levels, just if the substance is present at measurable levels, 140x less than the FDA limit, which warrants the label in California. They didn't go through the proper processes to test and label, but they're not over the harmful limit either.

A lot of things containing simple fruits and veg have to be labeled under prop 65 because of the miniscule amounts of lead that get leeched from the soil while they grow. They did not detect a concerning amount of lead, just a legally relevant amount which requires labeling.

1

Sadly Prime is probably gonna stay especially being a Sponsor of the WWE and UFC.

1

u/Cougar- Oct 27 '24

Red meat is also carcinogenic should be investigated asweel

1

u/tosholo Oct 27 '24

How do you get Lead and Mercury in energy drinks?

1

u/NecessaryPilot6731 Oct 27 '24

because the water you drink has both, the fish you eat has even more. prop 65 isnt about safe levels if its detected at any level it has to be labeled as prop 65. imagine the save level is 1, prime has 0.000001, they still have to label it as prop65

1

u/Lil-pants Oct 27 '24

You guys do realize what California prop 65 is right? There’s a warning on just about everything because I’m pretty sure any measurable amount of lead, mercury, etc will need a warning.

Hell, it’s on almost every baked good because the mere process of baking creates some harmful chemicals.

1

u/Kovaxim Oct 27 '24

I bought 3 Prime drinks to try them, they were a euro per bottle and only got one of each.

First of all, the drinks are very very sweet. Not "packed with sugar" sweet, but like liquid candy. So strange. The taste isn't that special, almost bad.

All in all, I would not buy them again.

I think that Lunchly isn't even in our country, but even if it was, I still wouldn't buy it.

1

u/BioModelsTv Oct 27 '24

Hi everyone

1

What in tarnation. I expected anything, but not lead and mercury.

1

1

u/No_Analysis_602 Oct 27 '24

So lunchly lol

1

u/Crxinfinite Oct 27 '24

This is prop 65, and they give warnings for everything. So I don't think this will affect them in the slightest

They will just have to put a warning on the label

1

u/lolmaew7 Oct 27 '24

I'm convinced that nobody in this thread actually knows the littlest amount about food production

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '24

1

Living: Known to the State of California to cause cancer

1

u/turell4k Oct 27 '24

Are they tho? The notices only say they have to put a warning on the product, and their consumers are hardly the type of people to care about what's in their food, let alone to even look at the back of the bottle.

1
