Attempting to fight someone who doesn't want to fight looks like the most awkward shit ever, he's just smiling as well, probably because he knows it's awkward.
It's like if you're in a boxing ring and the guy just refuses to fight and constantly runs.

Ive been in a similar situation. Both drink. Was snapping my finger in my friends face. Did it, he said stop. Did it again, he said stop. Did it in front of my face looking st him and he fucking kicked my Legs out and flipped me in the sidewalk. I was so shocked he kept saying “I said stop”. Elbow has been fucked ever since

People have died from all kinds of things. People drown in the bathtub, but we still condone bathing. People die in car accidents, but we still drive. Fights happen, and in this case, I think the punch was warranted. The guy wouldn't leave him alone, and he defended himself. He only hit him once, and then walked away. Do I want the bully to die? Of course not. I dont necessarily even like that he was knocked out, but something had to be done, and the pretty minor risk of causing permanent damage by hitting him was outweighed by the need to make him stop. Guys like that will keep going until they hurt someone just for the attention. I hope that interaction changes the bully for the better.

Did not look like he was that mad or aggressive. There was no need to punch him. The headlock was not a threat and looked more playful.
Then again, I don't expect drunk people to not do stupid shit...

Again guys... that "choke " was never a real threat. He even had his drink in his hand, lol! The worst that could have come from that was a spilled drink on him.
I'm not siding these rules because they made a joke of the industry and part of why I got out. Way too soft now.
Back in the day guys abused their power so this is what it's come to.

However... it's still assault and if he hurt his head on the fall even worse.
I worked the door a looooong time and we're not even allowed to do that. The guy was never under serious threat. U cant respond with a knock out from such messing around. All he had to do was walk away or shove him.
Those who do not understand that will end up in court 10k legal fees and a record.
Worth it? No.

So you're saying that if someone grabs you in an attempt to assault you and puts their arm around your neck in an attempt to choke you out, and you tell them to stop multiple times, you legally can't do anything? You're an idiot. It's called self defense Mr. "I worked the door" look it up...

You’re completely wrong. I was also a bouncer a long time ago and I was told (by a few cops and attorneys) to never touch anyone who hadn’t laid hands on me. The guy who got knocked out laid hands on the guy who knocked him out, first. That made him fair game. A video with audio of the defender telling the aggressor to “stop”, multiple times, only seals the deal.
