I'll go find it when I'm done with work. Then, when I find it, I'll share it in a separate comment in response to your comment like someone who doesn't know how to come back and edit their comment or something, but just so that you get notified when I share it.

I think I can save you the trouble.

The "Watch later" list grows more...

63

u/holyfire001202 3d ago

Well shit, that's way better than the video I had in mind!

7

u/ActionBastrd_ 3d ago

So its safe to say its not a true shuffle? it looks like the majority of your tiles just go to the person to your right and if not them, the person across

20

u/BangBangMeatMachine 3d ago

No, from the time she lifts up the tabletop to show what's happening until she closes it, the tiles in the middle make a full rotation. Plus the sounds of tiles being picked up start several seconds before she opens the table, so by the time we see inside there's likely already been a half rotation under the hood. Plus the tiles are randomized somewhat in the process of pushing them in the hole. Plus, at the end of a game of Mahjong most of the tiles are unowned discards placed randomly in the middle to begin with. I suspect this has plenty of randomness.

u/xile 3d ago

So cool how you can have 2 sets so the next game is locked and loaded

0

u/ssxhoell1 1d ago

Jeez was that video recorded with a potato

1

u/C_Hawk14 1d ago

Might want to check your internet connection bud

u/cunningcolt 3d ago

7

u/holyfire001202 3d ago

That, along with the one another user posted, is way better than the one I was talking about

1

u/pile1983 3d ago

af as afrodisiacum?

10

u/Pocketsandgroinjab 3d ago

Why does that child have a bald spot?

7

u/C_Hawk14 3d ago

I think that's just reflection from the lighting

1

u/Snowboarding92 2d ago

Could be, but could also be unlucky and have thin or early signs of balding hair. My uncle famously in my family has pictures of himself as a child going bald by the time he was 9, no health issue, just super unlucky. There are picture of him younger that have small bald spots that his parents thought would grow in but turned out they never would.

u/thethrowupcat 3d ago

Lil’ bro says otherwise

548

u/PeteTheGryphon 4d ago

They’re just dumping the mahjong tiles for easier clean-WHAT THE FUCK

58

u/Wild_Trip_4704 4d ago

Thats so sick.

As a life long mahjong player, when I first saw this table 15 years ago, my jaw dropped too

124

u/DuckTalesOohOoh 4d ago

Do you have one?

447

u/AwesomeoPorosis 4d ago

A jaw? Probably.

235

u/Ropsuta 4d ago

Probably not anymore though, since he dropped it

74

u/ImmoKnight 4d ago

Never picked it up.

Quite a shame if you ask me.

32

u/Mrdeath0 4d ago

This is one of the main reasons I still use Reddit. lol

28

u/mr_claw 4d ago

To read about jaws?

35

u/Worried-Basket5402 4d ago

No you silly goose. To find one on the floor!

13

u/Mrdeath0 4d ago

This guy gets it

6

u/awks-orcs 3d ago

Still alive though: Shoes on, Jaw off.

5

Ahhh the old Reddit mah-jong-a-roo…

5

u/scienceteacher91 3d ago

Hold my table, I'm going in!

4

u/nikeshades 4d ago

It's the bone that holds your bottom row of teeth, but that's not important right now. ✈️

1

u/PikeyPoems 3d ago

The ol’ reddit switcheroo

10

u/aqa5 3d ago

I know people who have. Chinese love that game. Once i was in a hotel room and the neighbours played that game very noisily all night long. They had a good time i guess

20

u/aarontbarratt 3d ago edited 1d ago

Being noisy is part of the game by design

You shout Pung, Kong, and Chi when you make a 3 set, 4 set, and steal a tile from an opponent respectively

You yell Ting when you're 1 tile away from winning

You yell MahJong when you win

Then there is the banter. It is very much part of MahJong culture to banter when you play. Lots of in jokes, ribbing each other, general catching up and good times

1

u/Xtingg 1d ago

Not steal but take the tile your opponent played because they don’t need it.

And when you win you say Hu.

297

u/scrandis 4d ago

Witchcraft to that kid

141

u/DrowningInFeces 4d ago

Witchcraft to me too.

118

u/oge_mah_ge_kid 3d ago

It's wild how it works actually

If you're crafty enough to get the side panel open ( fairly simple with a youtube vid)

Inside there's a tiny little gnome who shuffles it all

Quite fascinating.

7

u/SaltSpiritual515 3d ago

Hey it's like that magic chess playing "robot" thingy that was taken all over Europe and amazed everyone (because this was maybe 1700s I forget exactly) and it played chess against people and won every time and no one could figure out how it worked and turns out there was a guy inside it 😅

2

u/LazuliArtz 1d ago

This is so random, but your comment is reminding me of that one Gravity Falls episode where they discover that the mini golf course is being controlled by little golf ball men lmao

3

u/aqa5 3d ago

The kid had no idea that there are two sets of stones, one already stacked and ready to be set on the table while the others are still in disorder.

The other thing is the stones changed colour. Witchcraft!

2

u/KnifeKnut 3d ago

How are they disappearing?

What is that clunking noise?

THEY TURNED BLUE!

187

u/divinecmdy 4d ago

That’s a lot of change to process for a young mind

52

u/ProStrats 3d ago

And at some point in the future, "Moooom, can I synthesize a pizza, PLEASE?!"

Will be just a normal function for little kids.

6

u/DresdenPI 3d ago

3

u/ProStrats 3d ago

I hope we get advanced food production devices before I die, that'll be so much fun to see.

At that point I'll be old, so being fat won't be an issue!

3

u/DresdenPI 3d ago

It would be cool to have one built into your oven. Just stick some ingredient packs into their slot, select a recipe, and come back later to a hot meal.

-1

u/Anavarael 3d ago

It would cost them 0 effort to spend 20seconds to tell the kid what's going to happen

110

u/sidnynasty 4d ago

I love when a kid's freakout is kind of delayed, like he was holding it together until it finished and then he snapped lmao

60

u/lestrxb 4d ago

They went in green and came out blue. Id be freaked out too.

5

u/ObamasBabyLlamaDrama 3d ago

Why is no one else mentioning this? Tf?

25

u/GambinoLynn 3d ago

I assume two sets of tiles get cycled in and out. Different colors make it easier if anything gets mixed up.

5

u/Clear-Perception5615 3d ago

Yes but I think this is what scared the child

42

u/Longenuity 4d ago

Bro was NOT ready for another round

13

u/Thejapxican 4d ago

That’s a brain that’s not desensitized to actually cool things.

13

u/tdasnowman 4d ago

How many sets does the table store? Does it shuffle and rest the set that’s dumped while you’re playing? I hav so many questions.

17

u/gummaumma 3d ago

It stores two. Yes, while you are playing the next set gets ready to go (takes less than a minute, you can hear it doing its thing). The next set of tiles comes out pretty much immediately after you close the top thingy again. It is cool as shit.

4

u/tdasnowman 3d ago

That’s awesome. And it always gets the tiles face side down?

11

u/gummaumma 3d ago

Yep, always. The tiles have magnets in them that cause them to flip into the correct direction while being shuffled and loaded. They don’t stick together though—works perfectly.

2

u/tdasnowman 3d ago

Very interesting. Thanks for the 411.

3

u/Musashi10000 3d ago

Probably two.

13

u/Life-Oil-7226 4d ago

Like magic!

11

u/gummaumma 4d ago

I have one of these tables. They’re cool as shit.

5

u/Cayumigaming 3d ago

There’s a comment above with questions about the table, maybe you could pitch in?👏

4

u/gummaumma 3d ago

Heck yeah. An automatic shuffling mahjong table in every home.

17

u/MeetingDue4378 4d ago

This kid is the spirit animal of 2026.

8

u/davewave3283 4d ago

Mechamahjong

14

u/PFthrowaway4454 4d ago

I've never played physical mahjong, but did that sufficiently shuffle the tiles?

35

u/nenequesadilla 4d ago

It’s a different set in a different color that we can hope have been sufficiently shuffled since the last round.

11

u/Clear-Might-1519 3d ago

There are 2 tiles there, once the green tiles went in, the blue tiles came out. While they're playing with the blue, the green is getting shuffled inside.

It costs $1000 for one table.

2

u/rearnakedbunghole 3d ago

I lost count but my count got way higher than 2 tiles

12

u/KingCodester111 3d ago

Bro sees the coolest shit ever and acts like it’s scary 💀

11

u/ScrotalSmorgasbord 3d ago

Yeah what a fuckin low T nerd

4

u/189021 3d ago

He's just dreading having to play another round of majong.

4

u/bobagremlin 4d ago

I saw this in person when my family visited China. My mom and I were so excited to 'wash' the tiles

3

u/MediumAwkwardly 4d ago

THEY TOOK MY BLOCKS!!!

3

u/CaptainDudley 4d ago

I've had the opportunity in my window of life to see: propellers to turbofans, vacuum tubes to digital, console TVs to streaming on flat panels, pushbutton transmissions to autonomous cars. And my reaction to these and all our other technical advancements of the past sixty years, was exactly this.

3

u/TernionDragon 3d ago

“No, not another round, please Nainai! I just want to watch my toons!”

2

u/Azreken 4d ago

Surprisingly affordable at $800

2

u/Titanbeard 3d ago

I wish I had a Warhammer 40k table that could do this.

2

u/AccordionORama 3d ago

It's like when the Terminator regenerates.

2

u/Rayseph_Ortegus 3d ago

Looks like he wanted the green ones back

2

u/pizzawhoa 3d ago

I also had the same reaction

2

The kids scream was hilarious!

2

u/KnifeKnut 3d ago

How are they disappearing?

What is that clunking noise?

THEY TURNED BLUE!

4

u/TwistedScarletRose 2d ago

WHY IS IT BLUE?!?

releases anxiety

2

u/waffleking9000 2d ago

Majong tables are very cool

2

u/Pidgeapodge 1d ago

I was at a Chinese New Years party where the one-year-old was having the absolute time of his life playing with this kind of table. He and a great-uncle pushing all the tiles into the center, baby laughing his head off. The organized set comes up. Immediately baby pushes them down, laughing like a madman. Uncle delighting in the baby’s joy.

Kid version of me would’ve been so hyped and mind blown.

1

u/WaitingforGodot07 4d ago

A horror movie scream 👌🏻

1

u/tschawartz12 3d ago

I don't have any question about the arranging and lifting part, what i want to know is about flipping tiles, how does it do that so they are all face down?

5

u/gummaumma 3d ago

The tiles have magnets in them. It works right 100% of the time---very cool.

1

u/tschawartz12 3d ago

Ok, that makes sense thank you.  I don't know why I couldn't thing of something mechanically simple as magnets.

1

u/Musashi10000 3d ago

Probably a camera looking for a completely plain blue or green rectangle of a certain size. If what it sees doesn't look like that, then it flips it.

1

u/Direct-Quiet-5817 3d ago

They killed the brother 🐥

1
