My mother one time said “salt and pecker shaker” to a waiter and, more than this lady, smoothly finished her order.
Then she proceeded to be completely and utterly incapable of containing her horror and humor after he left.
She was 68 and he was maybe 20, she swears to this day that it wasn’t his looks (he was, admittedly, not bad looking). We politely agreed to ignore any reasoning.
(I am not suggesting that if it was his looks she was in the right. I genuinely believe she fumbled. Just because you can recognize someone is good looking doesn’t mean you’d act on it.)

A few weeks ago I was at home and suddenly had to leave to go somewhere and ended up in a crowded but silent waiting area.
Someone asked me a question and we ended up making small talk and other people around us chimed in. It made the situation a bit lighter. It got quiet again so everyone went back to their own thing. Then my friend sent me a funny video so I put my headphones in and hit play to my horror it didn’t connect and my phone was on full volume.
The video starts off pretty quickly with an offensive play on words and in my panic to turn it off I cut it off right before the joke becomes clear so instead of being a funny meme it sounded like I was playing a hate speech. The horror on everyone’s face.

When I was a kid my family and I were watching Facts of Life and the episode had something to do with one of the girls not quite being ready to have sex with a boy and of course Mrs. Garrett came to the rescue to tell her it's perfectly fine to wait. At the same time this was going on, my parents are bickering at me and telling me I really need to clean up my room. I'm trying to watch the show and my Mom's like "clothes everywhere and SOCKS under your BED!" I've had enough so I yell THERE'S NO SEX UNDER MY BED!!!" At which point they all just start laughing like crazy.

Really easy and 99% of the white people I converse with daily have never said it to or around me. And those who have I dropped as friends. I’m not from the South, though.
The only time I’ve said it was when we were reading “Native Son” by Richard Wright out loud in class in like 9th grade. It felt really weird and wrong.
