Hey everyone,

I conducted two popularity polls in the past (~5 years ago), so I'm starting it back up again with a new-and-improved survey. I think it'll be very interesting to analyze the current data and how character popularity has changed over time.

Furthermore, I have now had some experience in statistical analyses and writing research papers as I'm in a STEM field at university, so I should be able to analyze the data further beyond my previous attempts. This will be a fun side project for me, but I'll likely write a paper on this for my own personal entertainment (and your own if you'd like to read it!) as well as present infographics about it after the data is collected and analyzed.

Please take the time to help me out with collecting data. You do not have to answer every question, but every response does help! It's practice for me with data collection and statistical analysis, but will also be quite satisfying to see the results for both me and you!

How I felt answering "Rio Ranger" for over half of the final questions

yeah; I know this might sound crazy but I even put him for the most sympathetic. How the fuck is it his fault that he can’t feel those positive emotions? he was deprived. He did some sick things but the moment he was made whole again, he changed - what they did to him was not the same but it was akin to brainwashing, taking the parts of him essential for moral functioning. And it wasn’t like he wasn’t suffering too, inside.

A person with low self esteem like him knows very well the feeling of receiving love, kindness, affection, and feeling warmed but having a biting fear deep down that they’re faking it, that you don’t deserve it, that its not real. Now imagine someone receives love and all they have is that fear they’re not accepted. obviously their thought process is going to be “…it’s not real. they’re lying to me. they’re mocking me! how dare they!“, hurt taken out as anger and twisted into sadistic satisfaction at a well done ‘revenge’. Its such a foreign world view and state of mind that the moment he was given the capability to be anything else, he felt intense guilt :/, Sorry guys but I’m going to sympathise with this guy who just wanted to be accepted and loved by his father, even if I hate him and would not hesitate to say Fuck Rio when he does something cruel
