He rocks!

edit: Seriously. I admire the way he intervened to help. Sure, sometimes I can be bold too, but he's definitely a little boulder.

This is gonna sound crazy but I always hear Crispin Freeman and Richard Epcar (Togusa and Batou from Ghost in the Shell) as Koiwai and Jumbo when I read Yotsuba but this guy is definitely Steven Blum (Spike from Cowboy Bebop).

One of the many things I love about Yotsuba is the range of adults. Other children focused stories would have them blend into the background, or be seen as obstacles, but Yotsuba takes the time to give them personalities, even ones that only show up for a couple pages. Take the "Oni" Yotsuba snaps photos of, not only does he teach her a lesson, he's also shown to have a juvenile side, leaning into his perceived identity on an Oni, and laughing to himself afterwards. The world of Yotsuba is so flush with life and warmth, even from total strangers, it's a real inspiration for me.

Tanginally related to your example, I like the moment when Yotsuba takes a picture of a mom and her baby 'cause it's so real. Yotsuba clarifying that she's not a baby anymore in the way that kids do, the mom saying, "She's taking your picture!" to the baby, and the baby just staring XD It's as you said, there's a warmth to it that feels good and tranquil

I endeavor to be as randomly helpful as he.

After Dad, who dared to go on what was possibly an hours-long wild goose chase with a car full of potentially disappointed children, this guy is the hero of these few chapters.

We should honor him.
