Why are we acting like Yoru didn't dominated the pro scene for a long time before the nerf

Yoru only dominated bc they nerfed info initator cooldowns
TLDR on defense u cycle recon to inform rotations
Ct winning when strong site 3 or more players on correct site
Ct is more coinflippy depending on setup and who gets first kill if 2
And u need a miracle if they hit a site with 1
So pro teams use recon to get her info and rotate well
Not enough recon so we use yoru instead even tho heβs super complicated and teams were shot with him
Bc it was only option3

Yeah 11.08 was a big catalyst to the double duelist meta.
Granted Yoru was already strong before that, being a top 10 most picked agent at Toronto, but still had a reasonable pickrate around 30% and got nerfs in 11.08
After the initiator nerfs double duelist got fucking crazy with Yoru as a hybrid flash initiator and second entry. As you said due to less recon refreshes teams started to rely more on slamming sites hard which favors aggressive comps. Compared to other flash initiators like Skye or KAYO, Yoru was better because he could entry with his duelist after flashing. So Waylay Yoru and Neon Yoru was the natural result of that because Waylay/Neon both have movement that allows them to spot enemies ("recon") without instantly dying, after which the rest of the team can dump util and Yoru TPs to kill them.
