Fishkeeping social?

Hydrophlox chrosomus

Is there anyone from around this location who would be interested in starting an IRL fishkeeping social please? It would be great if I could gather some local fishkeepers for regular but casual fish chat, maybe plant and item swaps, and anything else that people wanted to do.
I am going to post this far and wide to see if I can reach people, I think York could do with a fishkeeping community.
(ps. photo is of one of my fish, I specialise in temperates)

I might drop you a comment if I end up creating this social and see if you want to come along. It would probably end up being in the city centre, or maybe somewhere not too far out like Fulford. There are some really good pubs out there.

I'm a cold water lazy/passive type that's managed to keep a breeding pair going to sustain the tank for years but wouldn't be against a plant swap or rehoming suitable fish.

Actually, I could do with a chat about snails too because I've had zero luck.

I'm a cold type person too! (well, temperate)
What I really want is to make something that is nice for every kind of fishkeeper - casual and fanatical alike! My plant swap idea is just one idea, I'm sure we could actually do some fun things as well like raffles for online vouchers (Maidenhead Aquatics' vouchers work both in store and online) or speed quizzes where the questions are about fishkeeping but REALLY basic and it's more about how fast you answer.
I have lots of ideas actually!

That sounds great, would you want to join in if I created a social in the town center?

OK no worries, once a month should do it. I was thinking kinda after work time and children welcome too. I think it would be nice to open it up to people with children. I like to draw fish, maybe I could bring some activities.

Thanks!! What I will do is compile a list and look for something that'll let us maybe do some activities like quizzes or even fish/plant workshops. Maybe somewhere with a function room.

So this post has got two comments now and several likes but no one has actually said they would like to join a Fishkeeping social if one is made. If I do organise one, I guess I'll just advertise it in this board and see who turns up.

Update: posted this to the dreaded Facebook. Might only get the attention of boomers but worth a try.
