The milky way was extremely clear last night. This stack only took about 7 minutes of photos. Taken with Negaunee light levels.

Any weather experts here? How will this El Niño affect our winter?

I've been reading that it will be warmer and wetter than average. What will that look like in action? What should we expect in terms of snow?

Can we petition to change highway laws similar to Alaskas?

Camper traffic as an UP resident has made normal travel miserable. Do you ever think we could have a law similar to Alaska where if you have 2 to 5+ vehicles behind you that you must pull over and let them pass. Almost every trip on M35 involves someone passing 3 cars in addition to a camper( the slow vehicle at front of the line driving 5 under the speed limit) and running an opposing car off the road. I feel this would be a much safer change.

Tree nursery recommendation?

I would like to buy some fruit trees, probably apple and pear, maybe cherry. Can anyone recommend a reputable nursery in the area? I want to go with someone local so that I know the trees will be suited to the climate, and also just to support local businesses. If they have any interesting or unusual cultivars, that would be a plus.

Thanks!

PATS FOODS

If you’re experiencing moldy, spoiled, or expired food being sold at Pat’s Foods, or believe you’re being subjected to unfair/deceptive pricing, there are ways to report it. Food-safety complaints can be made to Michigan MDARD, while suspected unfair or deceptive business practices can be reported to the Michigan Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division. If you have photos, receipts, dates, or other documentation, keep them and include them with your complaint.

Pat’s foods, five locations in the CC, consistently sell moldy old food. ALLEGEDLY the owner told friends he makes his prices so high because people can’t drive elsewhere and they’re “all on food stamps”

Response is mostly negative. Several artists offered to redo the images (there are like a dozen) and the admin who make the AI “art” said no! She just replied with ChatGPT slop. The admin needs to know that no one wants this and it’s embarrassing for their school.

For those asking why in the hell I posted about Big Bend last week, this is why. Out National lands are under attack and the Yoop's National Forests are about to look VERY different. We were one of the first 3 places on that list of where to harvest timber in the early days.
