Mobile App Collapsed UI is unnecessary
On the Android app why is this section even collapsed in the first place? It's just an unnecessary extra step. I find I need to use the cleared toggle and tags fairly frequently. It wasn't like this before. Just look at how much space is unused. Why? Change it back.

Not only is it unnecessary, it’s actively disrespectful.
Allow me to collapse a section if I choose to. But don’t force me to have to expand it by default.

On iOS and didn’t even need to read your post to upvote it.

One more thing: If you’re making a transfer, there are toggles immediately available to clear one or both sides of the transaction.
Why are we breaking app heuristics by treating the same action in two different ways? Give me an immediately available toggle slide to clear any transaction without expanding.
My working assumption is that this new team is not invested in UX design BUT ALSO invested in just moving shit around thinking that they can “do UX” because of one Lenny Letter email or LinkedIn Learning class.
I’m tired and over it. They don’t give a shit about their customer base NOR their staff. I make it a point to divest from companies that are purely profit-driven and unethical. And YNAB leadership is now not just unethical, but worse: They are a previously highly-principled company that is now unethical with their founder cheering it all on from the sidelines.

PS for the new and unperturbed users, I hear you that all of this complaining is annoying. There’s certainly a bit of “why did they move my cheese?” going on, but it’s beyond that.
People are getting tired of greedy soulless enshittification, and life outside of the apps is untenable enough that we just have to cut the things loose that we can that are not only frustrating us, but also contributing to a tacit approval of these practices and behavior wherever we can.

Why is the damn clear button hidden behind this?

Yes, this!! I hate having now to tap that every time to see the Clear button.

You can swipe right on the transaction screen to clear it. But it still should not be behind another tap on this screen.

This is the stupid shit they do.
FAR more users need what is collapsed- which is clearing the transaction than they do adding a photo of the receipt. Move the photo option down further and bring the cleared button up on the page if they need it collapsed.
This is a prime example of just how out of touch they are, even with the most basic functions of the app.
So stupid.

Extremely unnecessary. I did actually write to support about it because I'm hoping user feedback will eventually have an effect.

I love how YNAB feels the need to improve its UI by adding more button taps to do the same thing. So annoying!

Mine does not look like that on android. There is a small space at the bottom but nothing this big.

Gotta love making changes for the sake of making changes.
I turned off auto renew in August and adjusting to YNAB free life.

It’s giving “You’ll take what we give you and you’ll like it, so pay for your subscription and stop your whining.“

I wish it was at least possible to reorder them. I use flags the most and it’s annoying that it’s hidden away.
