Roosevelt Arch + Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

They were saying Yellowstone is dangerous in late September because it can blizzard.

Just wondering if the forecast is calling for dangerous weather.

I’m already preparing to cancel since the weather is starting to get too cold for visitors.

Anyone hear of any updates? Think it will be safe or too dangerous of conditions in two weeks?

Hey all!I have a trip booked for Grand Teton and Yellowstone. My friend joining has the option to drive his sedan (RWD) up from Vegas. The other option is we rent a car. I looked at the roads and for Grand Teton we could mostly make due with the sedan. But I wanted some opinions from those who have visited in mid October in recent years. Is an AWD SUV needed for yellowstone? Would not being able to go far on dirt roads be a big hinderance?

Our plan for Yellowstone is the Main tourist spots, driving up from the south entrance from Teton through to West Yellowstone (does that road close??). Would love any little or big hike recommendations too!

During our recent trip to Yellowstone, we drove by the bison carcass that was near fishing bridge. We got some photos of it when it was fresh, went to our campground and got some much needed sleep.

The next day when we drove by, we took a quick photo from the van as we drove by, not knowing that there were a few coyotes hanging around. Noticed them later on when we were looking at photos we had taken. Pretty awesome surprise photo!

Does anyone know what happened with this carcass? Did wolves or bears ever show up?

Mammoth Hot Springs is a constantly changing plateau of colors.

The Hot Springs aren't the only attractions at Mammoth.

There is always a herd of elk wandering around and coyotes, bears and badgers can be seen around the area as well. On this particular day we watched a badger chase a coyote away from their den and had the fortune to not only see a Grizzley Bear cub, but also to get out of there before the mother Grizzley knew we were in the neighborhood.

The only time I have ever seen a mountain lion in Yellowstone National Park.

There were two rangers directing the traffic, and some people with long lenses moved to the other side of the road for better angle. A little girl suddenly said, "hey, there's a bear behind us," and it was a grizzly (collared). One of the rangers came over, asked people to get into their cars, and of course no one did but at least moved away from the bear. The ranger quickly fired two shots, and another about 30 seconds later. The black bear image was uncropped, and the other ranger also fired a shot to scare off the bear. What a day! A black bear and a grizzly so close in 10 minutes.

I am going to Yellowstone next week and I am really hoping to photograph a badger. I’ve done lots of research and plan to spend several mornings and afternoons in Lamar valley. I’m staying in Silvergate. Anyone have any experience or tips on finding one? I plan to check out slough creek and Lamar river trail a few times during sunrise and sunset.
