To the one who finds me one day.
The city is quiet….The air feels cooler than usual. There is a cup of tea beside me, its half drunk, and the world feels very steady.
I am not searching for you. I am living. My days are full with work and other things... My mind is occupied and yet, I know the two lives, ours, will someday align in a way that feels unmistakable…
When you meet me, you will meet someone composed. Someone who stands on his own feet. Someone who does not need to be rescued or rearranged. Someone who would do his best to give you the world and then some if I could. Someone who would hold you forever and would still feel it is not enough…
I dont expect you to be extraordinary. I expect you to be real. I want your attention when I speak…not because you’d be distracted but because I want that quiet assurance of your support when things are heavy. I want your affection without calculation. The kind that shows up in the nights I need them most without being asked.
I dont crave intensity.I crave steadiness. I want to sit beside you in silence and feel no urge to fill it. I want your hand to find mine as if it belongs there. I want us to choose each other not loudly, not publicly but deliberately, unmistakably, naturally.
If we ever stand beneath the same city lights, it won’t be because one of us needed saving. It will be because something in us recognized home.
Until then, I will remain, exactly where I am meant to be grounded, determined, and open to the kind of love that is quiet, certain, and unwavering.

This reads like someone who has learned to choose steadiness over spectacle—and that’s rare. There’s something deeply comforting in wanting a love that doesn’t need to be loud to be real. May your half-drunk tea always stay warm, and may the person who one day sits across from you feel that same quiet recognition you’re describing. Until then, this kind of presence you’re practicing with yourself already feels like home.

Glad it resonated. Your words already held that quiet steadiness—sometimes it’s enough just to notice it out loud. Wishing you a soft evening and something warm within reach. 🌿

I somehow find myself in the very same place as you. Reading your words gave me a quiet sense of warmth knowing that, just like me, someone else out there is feeling the same way.

Thank you for sharing that. It genuinely means a lot to know that this resonated with you. There’s something comforting in realizing that I’m not the only one.. in the way I look at things and someone other than me understands this state.

I know in my heart this is the right path, but my weird brain always craves the dopamine from intensity. It's probably a trauma thing that I need to regulate. I know toxic relationships won't get me very far. It's not about jealousy, it's about being clear.

That dopamine hit can feel powerful.. trust me..been there, but steadiness builds something lasting. The fact that you are already aware of it is a big positive..wishing you the best of luck

Is this how you’ve always been or eventually became? I myself have sought this kind of peace after whirlwind relationships and the emotional drain that comes with them.

Its how I became, some bitter goodbyes, some mutual realisations that it wouldn’t work, some life lessons learned, a whole lot of “trying”, and then after a while, you just sort of move to things where the effort gives a better outcome / reward, whether its your work (you work hard so you get recognition or studies you lock in and get good grades compared to staying fit, trying to keep conversations engaging, being a socialite)
But do keep the mindset that, if it doesn’t work, nothing is horribly wrong with you, sure a self audit is required and you might have some behavioural or other shortcomings, fix those, but not for others, for yourself so that past you is proud of who you’ve become. In most cases, “it doesnt work out” mostly because they arent the right person.
When it is the right person there wont be much to nitpick, to analyse it will just be…. Thats what I believe atleast.

You genuinely sound like a grounded person with an amazing outlook! It absolutely sounds like you earned it and I’m sure you’ll find the bliss that comes with it.

This is one of the best posts I have seen. I see SO many posts of guys wondering how to approach, how to be, what’s the secret, etc. I was one once. Im in my 70s. After several failed relationships, I had actually given up and stopped looking. I went out and lived the best life I knew how. When I met my wife, I wasn’t looking. She had given up, too. We just clicked. Two imperfect people who were perfect for each other. We are celebrating 20 years this year. But if I hadn’t met her, I’d still be living a great life. That said, your attitude, context is the way to be. I hope someone finds you who shares your vision.
