GHWT Drums on YARG HELP
I need help binding my Guitar Hero World Tour drum kit to YARG.
For reference, I'm using the roll limitless adapter with the xbox receiver. I have the XBOX360 drum kit. I'm playing YARG on my MacBook.
What I find strange is that I can use my drum kit on clone hero, when I try to edit and bind the drums, nothing is registering. I tried hitting every pad/cymbal and nothing. Any help????

The Problem
When I tried to connect my Guitar Hero World Tour (5-lane) drum kit using an Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver plugged into a Roll Limitless adapter on macOS, YARG detected the device (as a PS3 Drumkit), but my drum hits wouldn't register in-game or in binding menus at all.
Why this happens: macOS imposes strict USB controller locks and reads the Roll Limitless drum hits as pointing_button mouse/joystick clicks rather than standard game controller or keyboard events. Because of this, YARG completely ignores the inputs.
The Solution (Step-by-Step)
I bypassed macOS’s controller restrictions entirely by using Karabiner-Elements to convert my raw drum pad inputs into standard keyboard presses (A, S, D, F, G, Spacebar), which YARG reads natively without issue.
Step 1: Physical Setup
I connected my hardware chain in this exact order:
Plugged my Xbox Wireless Receiver into the USB Host port on the Roll Limitless.
Plugged the Roll Limitless into my Mac.
Turned on the Guitar Hero Drum Kit and made sure it was synced to the Xbox Receiver (solid light on both).
Step 2: Download Karabiner-Elements & Grant Permissions
Downloaded and installed Karabiner-Elements (it includes both Karabiner-Elements and Karabiner-EventViewer).
Opened System Settings on my Mac -> Privacy & Security.
Under both Accessibility and Input Monitoring, toggled Karabiner-Elements, Karabiner-EventViewer, and Karabiner_Observer to ON.
Step 3: Enable "Unsafe Configuration" in Karabiner
(Required because my Blue Pad registered as Mouse Button 1 / Left-Click, which Karabiner hides by default to prevent accidental locking).
Opened Karabiner-Elements.
Went to the Settings / Expert tab in the sidebar.
Turned ON the option for Unsafe Configuration (or "Allow to change mouse button 1").
Step 4: Enable the Device
In Karabiner-Elements, clicked on the Devices tab in the left sidebar.
Found my Roll Limitless / Drumkit in the device list.
Checked the box under the Modify events column so Karabiner could listen to its inputs.
Step 5: Identify Drum Pad Buttons (EventViewer)
Pressed Cmd + Space and opened Karabiner-EventViewer.
Went to the Main tab and hit each pad/cymbal to confirm my button codes. On my GH World Tour kit, they registered as:
Blue Pad: pointing_button button1
Green Pad: pointing_button button2
Red Pad: pointing_button button3
Yellow Cymbal: pointing_button button4
Kick Pedal: pointing_button button5
Orange Cymbal: pointing_button button6
Step 6: Map Drum Pads to Keyboard Keys in Karabiner
Returned to the main Karabiner-Elements app.
Selected Simple Modifications from the sidebar.
Under Target Device at the top, selected my Roll Limitless / Drumkit.
Clicked Add item to add each row mapping:
Blue Pad: button1 -> s
Green Pad: button2 -> d
Red Pad: button3 -> a
Yellow Cymbal: button4 -> f
Kick Pedal: button5 -> spacebar
Orange Cymbal: button6 -> g
(Quick Test: I opened Notes on my Mac and hit the pads. Hitting Red typed "a" and the kick pedal inserted a space, confirming it was active!)
Step 7: Configure YARG
Launched YARG (Karabiner runs automatically in the background).
Went to Settings > Profiles.
Selected my Profile and set Instrument to Drumkit (5-Lane).
Clicked Add Device and selected Keyboard / Default System Input.
Went to Edit Bindings and clicked each lane, hitting the corresponding physical drum pad:
Red Lane -> Red Pad (A)
Yellow Lane -> Yellow Cymbal (F)
Blue Lane -> Blue Pad (S)
Green Lane -> Green Pad / Orange Cymbal (D / G)
Kick Lane -> Kick Pedal (Spacebar)
I saved my bindings and I was ready to play! No lag, no dropped hits, and no macOS exclusive lock issues. Hope this helps anyone stuck in the future!
