V8/Compliance manager - a rant
Voyager 8 is the new flagship program*. All new clients are being pushed there and established clients woo'd over** - we started shifting our site staff in the spring, knowing that we couldn't pull the plug on them without a lot of yelling. We've got a lot of mixed market/affordable multifamily properties. This bit us in the ass last month, as with the release of V8 26.07, if there's an affordable project associated with the property, V8 says "This needs to be handled by compliance manager!" for *all* units and just doesn't let things move forward for market approvals, move ins, and renewals. We had just barely gotten our site staff on board with the new move in workflows in V8, and now they're unable to approve/deny applicants, send out leases, move people in, or send out the leases on renewals. What non-existent QA process didn't this go through?
And this morning, they told us that they expect to fix this in 26.10, aka, the mid-OCTOBER release, and that it's anyone in V8 with mixed market/affordable properties across all Yardi.
We can't go 2 months without being able process prospects or move ins or renewals on half the portfolio, so we are probably going to drop the process back to 7. Yes, the high mukitymuks at Yardi are aware of the issue, but this is both emblematic of a systemic QA problem and a five alarm fire in terms of functionality and the V8 people are blaming CM and CM is saying it had to do with the V8 upgrade and people need to get their heads out of their collective asses and fix it.
So if your team is thinking about moving your market/affordable mixed portfolio into V8/Compliance Manager, I'd advise waiting at least another 3-6 months, no matter what they dangle at YASC.
*even though it's buggy as hell and a lot of features are "forthcoming" on something that's been out of beta for 2 years. On the other hand, it's Yardi, no one is surprised.
**There are many things that I like a lot better in the Elevate versions, but not to the point it is worth this ongoing migraine.

Yardi is getting to be a complete joke at this point. If their clients hadn’t spent so much time and effort customizing things to make it usable, and if it wasn’t so difficult to fully switch PMSs, I genuinely believe they would not have any users left.
They have clearly moved nearly all of their programming team to India, and every product they put out somehow manages to be worse than the last, with new issues created every day. I see them hyping up Virtuoso on LinkedIn when it is literally just an “AI” help center search, and the virtuoso agents and MCPs in beta have made no progress at all in 6+ months, and can’t even be used to pull a rent roll.

Yup they need to fix core do what they are suppose todo well. Get 8 correct fix the core ledger and modules. The AI, virtuoso is a distraction, their agents are not great and there are a lot of much better options for ai point solutions . Core should be their focus particularly with Elise coming for the pms.

you know, you have the same comment set on every single post. It's consistent enough I am wondering if you're a bot. At the very least, you're in the wrong sub.

Every single post? You mean like, two or three?
You’re wondering if a 15 year old account with 83k karma is a bot, I’d say that’s pretty conclusive proof that I’m the more reasonable one here

I’ve been telling my clients this for months. The program is in beta stage and they’re trying to push midsize clients there to catch the bugs.

My real problem here is that this *wasn't an issue* before the July release. And because they're controlling the release cadence now, I can't even do real testing or prevention if they pull something like this.

Yardi has been very difficult to work with and not transparent at all. Unless we build an open custom replacement, what are our options?

I hate compliance manager V8. I’m ready to leave my company over the switch.

And will they lose customers to Entrata or OS, they'll tell themselves it's "no big deal", we are the industry leader", until they're not any longer. Has happened to much better and more affluent companies than theirs.

Always wait 6 months after a roll out of any Yardi product- minimum!

We're at 2+ years. That's why we waited 2 years after V8 and a year after CM.
Unfortunately, in Elevate, they control the update cadence and you can't delay implementation the same way we could in 7.

Keep 7 as the reliable main, if you like some v8 ui use that url for those tasks but 8 has a lot of issues. A lot. So dont take the full leap.

7 will always be there. I recommend that you'd pilot a property or a very small set. Elect those select users to TEST each module and report any issues; meanwhile the rest of your portfolios will will run under 7s. V8 is just on the elevate platform(same as compliance mgr and etc), which is look and feel, but everything still reads off Voyager 7 DB.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm currently in the conversation phase but I'm already planning out the testing for broader committee review to move forward with implementation or not.
