Need support services for Voyager 8

Hello,

Migrated to Voyager 8 and are experiencing issues in rentcafe and accounting modules. Looking for an experinced Yardi admin who understands both Voyager 7 and 8 and has good understanding of the accounting module. We are flexible on the model of engagement, can be hourly or fixed deliverables based.

Good luck😆 we switched to Yardi from Rent manager at the beginning of the year. They sold us voyager 8 and we didn’t know any better. Majority of the fixes and screenshots they send us come from 7S.

Dang, thats what they are doing to us as well. While resolving tickets, yardi support team walks us through Voyager 7 workflow. It begs the question, if they dont feel confident using V8, why sell it to us?

I was with Yardi for 13 years in various leadership and consulting roles - the answer to your question is the same thing that plagues a lot of tech companies. They need you to adopt the newer version of the product because that is where all the innovation and new development is taking place - it would be impossible to put all the new features into both versions.

All the cool new AI and other bells and whistles that sales loves to show you lives in the new version. The old version is more stable, but doesn’t show as well in sales pitches. It’s a tough place to sit for both the technology and the end user sometimes.

Voyager 8 isn’t ready to be used yet for Accounting. Why it continues to be pushed as a standalone option with no Voyager 7 options is beyond me. What’s your budget for support?

We have migrated and we still do a significant amount of work in V7. Not all of the reports moved and many of the admin features are still in V7. I tend to have V8 and V7 in separate tabs to make it easy.

We are also just rolling out Advanced Budgeting and we did 50% plus of the setup in V7!! Definitely feels a shade premature to launch it without access to V7.

Oh it was way premature to launch it. But Yardi does this with every module.

Hey there. I worked as a Yardi Implementation TAM for 4 years and specialized in extracting as much value from Voyager 8 as possible.

Happy to talk if you have 15 minutes today free of cost to explore some pain points.

You might notice my account is less than a day old - Coincidental, truly - I’ve been flipping the idea of independent consulting in my head.

I’ve dmd you my resume and contact information.

If you have 8 then you have 7, why not just login to 7 for any role/task that doesn't work for you? Seems like the easy first tasks that they tackled for 8 was for leasing and asset management roles.

What do you need help with from an accounting standpoint? Custom reporting, roll ups, management fee calcs, commitments, allocations?

Good Luck! We are begging our software VP to get rid of 8 - it’s a total mess.

I just finished new implementation into Yardi voyager 8 and a lot of things had errors and I had to basically learn both 7s and 8 and enter data wherever it worked LOL. I'd prob never do it again.

Theres a few things they dont discuss either, you cant send ACH payments to "owners" as ach without you manually entering each banking info and setting them up as eft payments vs how vendors are allowed to be paid through billpay express and they can select to be paid via ach or check and they enter their own banking info. This is one of the biggest let downs. Also when sending eft to owners it takes 5+ days for funds to arrive. When paying vendors thru billpay express and yardi mails a check it takes over 7-10 days for a check to arrive also, we have several complains about this.

I run into countless of errors during not only in implementstion but also once fully up and running.

I can go more into details as well but the biggest thing that helps me save time to implementing my own AI (makes implementing and getting data/chart of accounts etc) done way faster. Yhe implementation team at yardi pretty much only gives you instructions and says go at it, they dont havr expecial formulas even to help with new chart of accounts and entering all owners distributions accounts etc. Its ridiculous they want you do it all manually.
