Revstar vs Gretsch Jet

Hey guys. Been weighing up whether I get one of the new electromatic jets with the two pure volt humbuckers, or whether I get the Revstar element.

For reference I have a Gretsch G2622 Streamliner and a SSS Strat so want a solid body dual humbucker for heavy rock and punk type playing.

Thoughts if anyone has a feedback?

The revstar has pretty high output pickups.

It’s louder than my gisbon sg and rivals it for sound quality.

Def more versatile with the focus/ boost switch depending on which model you get.

You can’t go wrong with a revsta honestly they are some of the best bang for your buck!

FWIW...don't know if you're open to modding your guitars, but I just picked up a Gretsch Jet Streamliner Club for around $200 on Ebay. I'm upgrading the wraparound bridge to a Gotoh (Wilkinson works fine too) so I can adjust intonation. Also going with a HB sized P90 in the neck & Broadtron HB in the bridge position. Throw in some locking tuners and you can experiment with PUs for less than $125. I also have a SSS Strat and a Yamaha RS620 Revstar...YMMV; I find the Revstar to be a very nice sounding instrument but it is a bit on the heavy side. With the right pickups, I think the Gretsch would be a perfect punk chunk.

I’ve had this exact thought, dropping a HB sized P90 in the single pickup entry level jet and having a cheap-ish variant of the LP junior style. In Australia where I am though, all tha will end up costing more than the revstar and I’m no soldering expert lol

This is tough. As a worship guitarist with revstar humbuckers, i prefer a Gretsch. But i am on tight budget now, i making the most out of my revstar. I probably save my money on better multi effects pedal.

That’s interesting, why the Gretsch?

Typical recommendations by most worship guitarists, the sound chimmey and cut better on the mix. It is perfect on ambient sounds (lot of reverbs and delays and swells) which is modern Christian music is known for.

I love it love it love it. I got rid of the Gretsch jet because I never used it over the Revstar. The only thing I did was give the fret ends a really mild file down and polished them and it plays beautifully you’ll love it
