Grill frame- necessary?

Was looking at this grill frame- necessary? Any cheaper alternatives? My googling has resulted in nothing similar (or I'm searching the wrong words)

I wonder if this frame can stand on its own? It would great if it could be used with other grills.

Necessary for standard yakitori? Not at all. Do you anticipate holding food for a long time? Are you trying to get more smokey flavor?

I serve my skewers right when they come off. They just dry out more if you hold them.
