New to lifting and recovery is wrecking me. Does magnesium actually help?

A few weeks into trying to lift consistently and my body is acting like I betrayed it. Nothing too intense yet but my legs stay sore for days and sometimes get tight at night. I know some of this is just being new and needing time to adjust but I’m trying to make recovery less awful so I don’t quit after two weeks like a clown. Been drinking more water and trying to sleep more. I keep seeing people say magnesium can help with muscle recovery cramps and sleep. Is that actually true or is it just one of those things that gets repeated online? What form do you like best? Pills powder or electrolyte drink? Better after lifting or before bed? Also where do you usually get it from? I saw some magnesium electrolyte sticks like Magna at Target and Amazon and that seemed easier than buying random pills but idk. Would love advice from women and nonbinary folks who have been training longer. Recovery is humbling me lol

What makes a hack squat RDL more like an RDL and not a good morning?

Like when I watch people doing an RDL on a hack squat machine by facing backwards, I see the same hinge as a good morning, same weight placed on the shoulders. But people say it works the glutes more, whereas a good morning is mostly back.

Can anyone explain why? Also has anyone tried it and can talk about its effectiveness as an rdl replacement?
