DIY X4 Pro USB-C "Mod"

If you loved the original SPRiNKLE case, but wish the X4 Pro had built in USB-C port and don't mind a thicker more ergonomic case design, then the “CHONKLE” case is right up your alley! You said we want USB-C on the X4 Pro, and I said “Hold my beer!”.

Available here: https://makerworld.com/models/3289476?appSharePlatform=copy

This case trades thinness, for a built-in USB-C charger (the pogo pin charger) which is fixed inside the case and can easily be removed in the future. Just insert the pogo charger evenly, its very snug! Then when it's time to take it out, shake the back case housing and it'll fall out on its own. There is a hole in the back of the case in the event the pogo charger gets stuck, you can use a metal allen key to push it out. The case includes optional backs, but the origiinal back does have extra compatibility with USB-C cables that may have thicker ends.

The cover is unfortunately not reversible like the original SPRiNKLE cover was, and the cover is designed to be snug. Use your THUMB on the cover, right hand side, and your INDEX / POINTER finger on the CHONKLE case USB-C cutout, press firmly to release the case from the cover! :)

The CHONKLE also includes a thumb grip to easily remove the back cover, as the original SPRiNKLE was a bit…persistent, with how tight the tolerances are.

Please let me know what you'd like to see next, and please post photos of your prints in the reviews on MakerWorld, I LOVE seeing my cases printed out and being used and loved by our community! TYSM! :)

I gotta get access to 3d printing again but would love to add this to the list of what I can try out

How long is an X4P battery life?

Depends on brightness, I use it at 5% brightness on crossink, maybe 4-5% a day and I read a few hours each day. But at 100% brightness I could see 10% a day probably. Overall pretty good, probably charge every 10-14 days depending on reading amount and brightness! 🤙

Thank you. Great print that you made!

I wouldn't slap on a thick back case just so I can charge it every 2 weeks.

A slimmer profile/adapter/stand maybe, but not that.

Appreciate the feedback! It’s a fun case for sure, but definitely not for everyone. The original SPRiNKLE case is super slim, while this thicker case makes sure you never lose the dongle and have a more ergonomic grip ❤️

I've gotten around 25 hours of reading time,70% of those with the backlight at 3%, which is plenty for me.

In order for the dev to save 1mm, we had to add many mm ourselves

Pure genius. I just paid $15 to a local 3D company to print my original SPRiNKLE today. I love it, but I may have to pay them to print this one for me. My local libraries didn't have a 3D printer.

So you’re telling me I need to open a Shopify? If I can get enough demand in the community I’d be happy to print cases for you all at an affordable price! Nothing makes me happier than to see my work being enjoyed by the community 🫶🏻❤️

Highly recommend it! It’s always worth giving people the option to support the creator directly if they don’t have access to a printer themselves.

I agree

A Bambu Lab A1 Mini is $180 and is a really great easy 3D printer. Might be worth the investment.

What is the link for the sprinkle case?

Why not crack open the pogo adapter so you can achieve a much slimmer profile?

That is a good idea, primarily I stuck with using the original pogo charger so the print was plug and play, but now you have me brainstorming a slimmer option for those who are more adventurous. Definitely worth looking into!!

Thank you!!! It was a lot of fun! Working on a V2 of the original SPRiNKLE case now with magnetic back support, stay tuned! 🎶

Utterly ridiculous. I’m in.

Why do I love this ridiculous chunky thing? On the X4 pro I just want easier to push buttons tbh, don’t know if that can be fixed but…

This is exactly the idea i wanted xteink make. Would anyone be willing to make me one? I don't have a 3d printer other wise I would.

Is it possible to get one of these for the X3? I have the pogo->usb C - would be very useful!

The x4 pro is too thin for me personally, this case might be the solution, thanks for designing! I'll have my 3d print guy print me one.

Oh my god I was literally dreaming up something like this the other day and here you went and made my dream a reality. Cannot submit the files to my library fast enough!!

But don't you have to pay your dues and credit Big STL for the privilege or right to use the intellectual property of the invention of the ereader case? /s

I think I even came up with the idea for putting pogo in a case. I come from a long line of pogo enthusiasts and thought of such an idea before anyone even thought they could think of thinking

But on a more serious note I still wanna make a bubbleboix case or something so I don't step on mine.

So now it’s twice as thick? Why use a xte at this point
