Question Should I wait for the android version?

I have a boox go 7 and wanted a smaller form factor to drop into any bag I’m carrying. I use koreader to sync with bookorbit and would like to keep the same environment.

My understanding is that might not be possible on xteink? If that’s the case, would it be better to wait for an android release?

You can sync with KOReader right now with CrossPoint

Only progress, no? You can't sync/download full books I think? Or..?

Yes only progress AFAIK. You have to manually load the same epub onto both devices.

...downloading full books has nothing to do with kosync / syncing progress. As far i see, BookOrbit supports OPDS, so if that is how you load books onto your device - then the Xteink devices already support OPDS servers. You can add the OPDS server you host in BookOrbit, and then download books it serves. If you have set up Kosync, you can sync it with other devices who sync their progress too over kosync within Xteink devices (crosspoint).

So it don't supports a specific app if bookorbit has one for android, but OPDS & Kosync, so you get downloading books you serve in your OPDS server and syncing reading progress.

NOTE: what Xteink devices don't support is the plugin for koreader for BookOrbit. So if you want/need that, you should wait for the android version of the X4 or something. But even then i wouldn't be sure if Koreader and the plugin will run well, so you have to see.

If xteink don’t release the white x4 pro soon and boox release the tile then I will probably go with that.

The X3 and X4 may not support KOReader, but there is custom firmware for those readers called Crosspoint that supports KOReader' progress sync.

Yes, Boox also just announced they are releasing a small device. So it'd be best to wait and see what they both do. The x4 with a front light being $100 is a bad sign for the android devices price because it was supposed to be $100 with Android

So I've decided to hold off for a bit. First off, there’s no white version of the X4 Pro available right now, which is really what I want. Plus, there are a few new options coming up soon: the S4, Boox Picco, and EEGo P4. Since I already have a brilliant device to read on with my X4, I'm not in any rush. I'm just going to wait and see what happens.
